roof questions condition/maintenance

We have just purchased our first travel trailer and it is a 2004 wildwood. We purchased it from a dealer who told us everything was in good working order but I am wanting to make sure. I re-caulked the whole camper and when I was doing that I have some roof questions on what is normal wear and tear and what needs attention. On the edges of the roof it almost looks like the white on the roof is wearing off or is getting what looks to be real fine cracking? I am trying to decide if I should leave it or put eternabond tape down both sides of the camper just above the rain gutter or if I should put the dicor or Kool seal coating on the roof? Since this is our first one I am unsure of what normal or good is for a 12 year old camper. Thanks

    From what I can see in the pictures, I would say your roof looks pretty good and does not need anything at this time. Caulking looks good and the roof itself shows normal spotting and wear. :)

    That said, if you feel like coating your roof, you might take a look at this post of mine and the complete thread which discusses coating a rubber roof. I did mine several years ago, and posted about it with pictures which might help you.

    I think I figured out the picture problem. If anyone has any opinions on what the condition of my roof is or if I should do anything with it that would be great. Thanks

    I can see the picture in your last post. It is a bit large, vertically.

    Make sure your settings in Photobucket are for public viewing. Copy a direct link into the box displayed from clicking on the image icon on this Forum. Choose width as 640 to keep everyone happy.

    Some sluffing or cracking of the white layer on an EPDM roof is acceptable. In those areas that are prone to leaks, apply your sealant system.
