Roof Repair 2007 Jayco 31 BHS TT

Cleaning roof yesterday, upper right front corner where front siding meets roofing material, noticed the sealant cracked and pulled apart and some seam lifting.

Question is, can I just screw down the seam, and cover the cracks with sealant, or should I strip it down, and really take a look at what is loose?

Everything else on this 31' Bunkhouse roof looks good.

I can put up some pics later, just wanted to put this out now.

Thanks
  • OK, that is the good info I was looking for, getting ready to roll out later today, and will do all the corners when I get back.

    Thanks again.
  • Do not use screws or try to peel the roof or caulk back . Use the eternabond, like suggested, or self leveling caulk. That model Jayco is known to leak at the corners. My nephew and friend have the same model and both are dealing with an issue where it was leaking in the exact same spot you describe and on a back corner then wicking through the felt under the rubber roof. Both leaks went undetected for a while because of the wicking and caused extensive damage under the rubber roof. I'm not trying to scare you or claim you have the same issue but I would thoroughly check and re-caulk all the seams and voids on the roof. My nephew has an adjuster coming out today to see if they are going to cover the damage under his insurance.
  • Assuming that it has not leaked and caused damage underneath, I would use Eternabond Tape.

I would not puncture the material with screws.
