Seam leaking from front cap movement. Need help

I have an '13 Passport. The front cap has all kinds of waves in it near the top as it rounds up to the roof. There is a metal hold down bracket that spans the seam. I have put Dicor on it twice already this season. Just came back from a camping trip which we had a little bit of rain. Went to get some clothes out of the cabinets above the bed and they are all wet. The seam was leaking again. Went up to inspect on the ladder and found a gap of up to 1/8 in the Dicor. Apparently the front panel is flexing with the heat and deforming which pulls the seam apart. I know this will be an expensive repair but I am looking for a short term fix to get me through the rest of the camping season as we cannot be without the camper for more than a week with our remaining schedule. More Dicor is not the answer.I am thinking eastabond tape with some sort of metal or plastic piece on top then Dicor to seal the ends.
  • I have one little spot where the cap meets the roof that the caulking has cracked three times over 13 years. I finally covered the area with some Eternabond Tape.
I dont think I'll ever have to deal with it again because the tape will bend and give slightly.
  • Eternabond with nothing on top of it should be adequate for the time being and maybe forever. Sounds like something has come loose, though.
  • Yes something is loose. The whole front cap piece is becoming unglued. This is causing lots of movement as it heats and cools. There are ripples at the top. If I push on it you can see why it keep pulling the seam apart. So the eternabond tape should suffice? I was wondering if it will hold up under the heat of the sun.
  • Question, will insurance cover the front cap repair? Any ballpark ideas on how much it might cost? I have a $500 deductible for comprehensive which is stated to cover things other than from an accident.
