Second AC Unit

Good morning all!

When we had our trailer built, we ordered it with a second AC pre-wire for the bedroom area. The main part of the trailer has a 15K BTU unit, but only a single duct outlet into the bedroom. We're both very hot sleepers, so even with the bedroom door open, summer camping in some of our favorite places can be miserable on hot nights. We have 50 amp service in the trailer, and I realize that some CGs might not accommodate more than 30.

My questions for getting a second AC unit:

Would you ...
(a) go through the RV dealer who sold the trailer and is an authorized dealer?
(b) go through Camping World?
(c) find an independent business that services RVs?

Also, I'm thinking about a lower BTU unit because it is a small space, and I'm hoping it would be quieter than the big 15K ones. Does anyone have any suggestions for one that's relatively not too noisy around 11,000 BTUs? Can I even expect that the 11K units would be quieter than the standard 13.5K?

THANKS!

Coleman has a line of lower profile units, some of which are heat pumps, and the outside fan blows out through the top of the housing. I've heard those units are quieter noise level inside the RV.

RV AC's are almost all the same level of noise. But what you can do is cool down the bedroom while you are not in there - then shut that unit off while you sleep - just run the main AC.

Unless you are in Texas during the summer - that should be sufficient.

I also have the Pro Pride hitch, and I leave the drawbar/stinger part with the shop if my trailer is in for any work. I also make sure they understand the hitch and how it works.

I'm also considering a second AC in the upstairs bedroom (5er). We also had the trailer wired for the second AC, going from 30 to 50 amp. My question, since it's already wired, is it a hard job to remove the vent and drop the AC in? Would it be a DIY job since the wiring is there?

Thanks

Thanks for the input! I'll start searching around for places near me. Any suggestions? I'm near Seattle on the Eastside (actually Snoqualmie).

Also, since I have the ProPride hitch on my trailer, do people with that hitch (or the Hensley) just have to leave the tow bar with a service shop? I'm NOT about to take off the hitch system! haha

I vote for good independent dealer. We found a great place when we were in Las Vegas.

Find a good independent dealer with a reputation for good work.

I don't think the smaller one will be any quieter.
