sewage valves.

On our last trip I noticed the gray valve was leaking and dripping at cap. Dumped before leaving. Just got under to attempt to replace both dump valves since this is a 2004. Found a box with pipe in the middle and a handle on each side. removed 4 screws and with the box loose I discovered the valves are 3' in at tanks and are cable operated. Had to remove 2 sheets of metal under camper to even see them. Now I am considering removing all the pipe which is connected at the tanks with a rubber sleeve and clamps. I think it is best to remove the complete unit , replace cable operated valves and cable to box and then reinstall. Any better ideas>??

    T58 valve. I put one onto my older Jayco to stop a gray tank leak. Worked so good that I installed one onto my new TT right after purchase. Saves any chance of a mess when removing the cap. One word of caution, it is possible to have the valve come off when removing the cap. Believe me, I know.. I drill 2 1/8 holes next to 2 opposing mounting tangs and secure with small screws and black silicon. Both my installs were permeant.

    Sound guy that would be kind of hard to do with the valves 3' in and under the metal under pinning. I did think of re piping and put two new valves near the existing location using a new fitting at the end to join the two.

    If you might use the trailer In freezing weather, keeping them up inside the belly would be best.

    Replacing the blades are easy. 4 bolts, pry the valve bodies apart slightly, drop out the old blade and seals. Liberaly grease the seals and blade using plumbers grease and reassemble. Careful to tighten the 4 bolts evenly and not too tight. Check for leaks by dumping a few gallons of water in the tank. No leaks? Valve work easily? Close things up. Not hard.

    You could just add another valve to the existing dripping one for now, problem solved (Valterra #T58)I did this until I got my drip fixed and still use it. It's a $20.00 fix!

    Remove the cable operated valves and replace with directly operated valves - just what I had my dealer do many years ago with my previous KZ Spree.
