Small gas tank beef

Just think what it's like with an F350 pulling a 25,000 lb trailer. 25 gallon tank and I was getting 6 mpg going from Des Moines Iowa to Great Falls MT fighting the wind.
Torque to pull a house and fuel tank to give you a 100 mile range.

My Chevy with a 6.0 only has a 26 gallon tank, I start looking for gas around 175 miles, which is 2.5 hours or so. About that time I'm ready to stretch my legs, and take a leak.

I used to have an F150 with dual tanks, and it was geared tall. It would go over 500 miles between fill ups.

As you get older stopping every 2 to 3 hours becomes a necessity and you will begin to appreciate the smaller fuel tanks...

Sticker for my Ram 2500 said it had upgraded the 27 gallon to a 32 gallon tank as part of Snow Chief group. I ran it all the way empty once, needle was below the red mark, computer wouldn't even estimate range.

Stopped at Shell to fuel up, what did it take? 26 gallons and change. Does that mean I have a 27 gallon tank, or is there 5 gallons of "reserve" the computer and gauge don't know about?

My MPG is 10, on a full tank, computer estimated range? 270 miles - maybe the dealer forgot to tell the computer about the larger tank?

I complain about this every time I fill up. My last 2005 2500HD and my new 2015 F250 both have/had 26 gallon tanks. Drives me crazy. It's not worth the cost to get a larger/aux tank to me - it wouldn't pay for itself ever (unless I could save $1 a gallon somewhere every time I fill up).

That is one of the reasons I never buy a new vehicle off the lot. When ever I am in the market for a new vehicle, I always order it with the options that "I" want. The largest fuel tank available from the truck manufacturer is one of them.

While it may or may not pay for itself, it will save some money when you get to choose where to fuel. Replacing the 26 gallon tank with a 50 gallon was the single best thing I did to improve my traveling experience. Why drive yourself “crazy” ?

99 % of the time I get 200 plus miles towing my 5er at 70 mph out of my 26 gallon tank. As was mentioned above I too like to stop every couple of hours anyway so I am not unhappy with my tank size. I agree that a bigger tank would be better but not necessary for me. It would be nice if the fuel gauge reflected the tank level better-it shows empty with at least 6-7 gallons still in the tank. So I just drive to empty and then fill up. The computer does accurately tell me fuel used.

I do carry a 5 gallon can in the back with diesel but have not needed it in the 9 years I have had this truck. I carry it just like I carry chains for insurance. I have needed the chains 3 times in summer mud.

The best upgrade I have done to my truck is the auxiliary fuel tank. It has very little to do with saving $ at fill ups. It sure is nice to stop where/when I want, and not be tied to the fuel tank.

Ford is doing it right with the big tank option on their new trucks. Hopefully the other manufactures will follow.

A 26 gallon tank is a deal breaker for me for a RV tow vehicle. 175-200 mile range is just too limiting.
Aftermarket tank,auxiliary tank or a trade would be my only solution.
