SMART TV IS IT WORTH THE CHANGE ?

I am going to update our 32" tv in the trailer.

Is it worth it to go with a smart tv in a trailer?

It all depends on if you get WiFi where you camp. The guy who posted about the remote control not working, just buy a new remote. And yes, they do update after 5 years, there is no industry standard to just stop updating! Smart TV's have a lot of other uses as has been stated.

Non-smart tv's are getting harder to find. That being said, we have a new Samsung smart tv. We replaced a non-smart tv that I had Ruko for. In my opinion, the Ruko was much easier to use and had much better content to choose from. I'd go non-smart if I could.

The t.v. in our B&M has wifi internet capabilities. The remote has all kind of widgets, etc...

Recently the NETFLIX, NETTV, etc... buttons on the remote and in the APPS, stopped working. The TV still shows an internet connection.

After much fustration...trying to return t.v. to factory settings, fighting with t.v. manufacture, internet provider & NETFLIX...the wife determined (she was told) that many SMART TV manufactures stop updating after 5yrs. WHAT?????????

She was given three choices. Buy a new TV, attach laptop (or modem) to TV via an HDMI, or buy a RUKO type device. She NEEDS her NETFLIX. She purchased an off-brand Ruko type device for less than $30.00. She now pulls up the netflix on her phone...displays it on the tv.

I guess my point is...... Why spend extra on a smart t.v. if a $20.00 device plugged into a HDMI port can accomplish the same thing?????

Personally I would be paying attention to picture quality, speaker placement, and how well it works OTA in the store if at all possible. Everything else can be added externally

Most TV's allow you to plug your computer into the TV through a port.
A smart TV will have internet access and video streaming service built in (ROKU etc).

Get a nice LED TV and a streaming device such as chromecast, Roku or Apple TV.

Just look for a TV that has a great picture and easy to setup. Some smart TV's allow you to plug a laptop or thumb drive that contains picture or videos and show them on the TV. If not needed don't pay for them.

Do you get internet access where you camp ? If not, then no, do not pay extra for it.
