Solaire TT Blew Over in Storm

Came home today to find our Solaire 28QBSS TT over on its side after a pretty substantial thunderstorm came through our area. The trailer is a 2013, so we're pretty discouraged. I don't know that I want to even attempt to fix all that is likely wrong. I can't get into it because the door is on the bottom side. I can see the couch and table let loose and I'm sure crashed into the kitchen cabinets and door on the other side. And I'm sure the frame took a beating in the fall as well.

Any thoughts on how to proceed with the insurance company? I was told an adjuster might come by tomorrow.

First weekend of camping was scheduled this weekend for my son's birthday. 😞

From looking at the pictures there's a chance the trailer fared well. I agree with others. If you have a choice then have a heavy rescue unit come out and right the trailer. They deal with heavy, thin walled trailers all of the time and have the proper equipment.

I wonder if a couple of skid steers could get it back up? One under the awning and the other to catch it before it bounces on the other side.

Had a neighbor have the happen to a small camper. A bunch ph of us neighbors helped right the rig and amazingly it had very little damage. As for the question on what to expect from our insurance, they may wan to have a company right the unit so they can evaluate all the damage and if it damaged enough to total. Good luck!

Sorry to see what you are going through. I noticed that it is an ultra lite trailer. I'm wondering what it weighs compared to the surface area of the side. With it flipping over and minimum damage to the surrounding neighborhood, the trailer's minimum weight compared to the side surface area had to be a contributing factor.

Looking at the picture a second time, it appears much of the trailer is on the lawn. Damage actually might be very slight. This might be a great TT for someone to buy from the insurance company.

Looking forward to pictures of the side once it is righted.

Continued thanks for the input everyone. The trailer is on my homeowners policy, so that is the company we're going to be working with. I'm not doing much other than turning the propane off and I did remove the battery, till the insurance adjuster let's me know what they want to do or comes for a visit. But I've taken a lot of photos already and reached out to the manufacturer to get their input on it.

Just hope we can get things figured out and taken care of soon so we can enjoy the camping season a little this year. If they try to insist on repairing it, I can imagine it will be a lengthy process. So am hoping they just total it, cut the check and let us move on getting something else. We'll see. It is what it is!

I will say this, this was one of Palomino's 7' wide models. While great to have the narrower width behind the truck, the narrower width does seem to sway a bit more on the highway and no doubt, made it a bit more unstable with the narrower wheel base. I'll be getting a standard 8' width next time for the extra stability and room inside.

Again, thanks for all the input. I'll post back when I find anything out just in case this story or experience helps anyone else in dealing with insurance claims on their units.

You need a Big Rig Retrieval company to right it using airbags to lift it and an airbag to gently get it back on the ground.

So sorry for your loss! Hard to believe something like this could happen and zero damage to the house or surroundings. Make me nervous on how unstable these TTs really are.

Be careful who you let handle righting the trailer. More damage could be done if they just hook a winch to it and start pulling. When the trailer passes it's balance point it will fall several feet and bounce on the tires of the high-side.

It can be righted gently, it will just take more work. Had the same thing happen to a trailer my parents owned. It was righted, re-skinned (aluminum siding) and used for several years afterwards.

I wouldn't assume it will be totaled by insurance.

That is really a bummer 😞

I am in West Michigan, and understand; the winds have been absolutely crazy here lately. Sorry for your event; hope it works out.

I'd suggest you remove the battery and the propane cylinders, wash what appears to be battery acid off your concrete driveway. I guess you'll wait for the adjuster to appear but the trailer could be righted with a truck and chain.`

Good point ... compare coverage on the personal property coverage on your homeowners policy vs. comprehensive on your trailer policy.

Totaled. It could be racked or who knows what. Broken welds? Cracked structure?

Amazing yor house looks fine! Did you lose shingles on the roof?

Thankfully no shingles were lost, or any other damage to our home. A few homes in the subdivision lost some facia pieces and a few trees were blown over. In fact our neighbor two doors down has a pop-up that was unharmed and another neighbor has a TT which was also unharmed. Our Solaire was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
