Stone look tile around fireplace

Thoughts on installing a stone look around fireplace?
Will the adhesive stick to the stock wall board.?
  • Point taken from everyone, great input
I will check out the 3d panel's from Amazon
That sounds like it could serve the purpose
    Of dressing up that wall.
    Thank you.
  • I found a faux brick panel on amazon that might work. It’s basically plastic with ground stone dust of some kind. 25.54 sq ft weighs 2-lbs and you can screw it or glue it to the surface. They call it 3D brick wall panels
  • you could use the thin brick looking/feeling product which is fairly light.

  • That stuff is meant to be attached to a solid substrate which the typical trailer doesn’t have.
It also meant to be attached to a non-moving structure.
If you are keeping the trailer on a permanent site, then it would work with proper prep.

Lowes sells it. all the small pieces of stone are fixed to a 12x12 screen.
The stock wall board has a wall paper .
Has anyone used a product called simple mat for prep?

    Like this?

There is considerable amount of weight in the stone plus grout..

I wouldn't directly attach that to existing RV wall board unless you really like putting the stone back up often.. RV wall board is thin, not supported well, flexes quit a bit and not to mention the surface is nothing more than a sheet of paper glued to the wall board..

The job is only as good as the weakest point which most likely will be the paper on the wall board tearing away..

  • Bouncing down the road with adhesive stone around your fireplace. Might last for a while.
  • are you talking real/heavy stone? are you sticking it on wall board that is covered by a thin paper layer?
