surge brake activation???

The plugs only come on MHs with rubber roofs.

well the lost is found, finally. based on pix posted on the tacoma world forum the fitting was hidden behind some mesh and behind a large white junction box? thanks for all the suggestions/etc.

yes, good thought, as it is the 3rd generation of the tacoma. I'm thinking that some/most/all of the pictures, etc., were for the 16 however.

The boat never moved forward at all, it did move backwards about 3 inches. That kind of surprises me as I have 3 inch strips holding the back of the boat to the trailer!

Bumpy I was thinking (I know scary right lol) was this truck a model year change? If so it could be in the old location. Just a thought.

Don, good thing the nose of the boat didn't end up in the tailgate! What a repair bill that would be. Glad you got the truck fixed and nobody was hurt!

It is a matter of principle now. :) the dog gone thing has a plug and I intend to find it. one more time with my mechanic and the pix off tacoma world, if that fails I probably will fall back on mowermech's link.

Bumpy, if you can't find the controller harness plug, why not just have the controller wired from scratch and be done with it? It may not be factory but it's a pretty easy, straightforward job.

yes, originally I was wondering if there was such a thing as a surge operated jobby I could put in the receiver,etc., that would make electric brakes work, but as I said mowermech found a much better solution.
am giving it one more time to try to locate the plug under dash and the tacoma world link gives me some hope (although three mechanics have been under there looking) and if not, return mine and probably get the RF.

From what I have been reading most of the new boat trailers are either all electric or electric over hydraulic. I was going to convert over to 100% electric but the cost was going to end up being $1,800 by time it was all said and done. With me doing all of the work

I had the boat come off the hitch do to a trailer coupling failure! The back coupler boss was worn out and allowed the boat to come off the hitch. The safety chains kept the boat from going anywhere other then into the rear bumper of my truck three times. :M

So after 45 minutes I was able to get it back on the truck and towed it 1/4 mile to the plant and dropped it there. Cost me a bumper but at least no one was hurt and the boat stayed with the truck! Up side there was no body damage to the truck just the bumper! Also the breakaway cable was pulled but the brakes never activated causing the boat to slam into the rear of the truck. Another reason I'm going with this system! Electric breakaway system.
