peak horsepower (or torque) is not the real indicator of acceleration and pulling power. the real indicator is the INTEGRATED AREA under the torque curve in the rpm range you are using. the vehicle with the largest integrated torque wins, not necessarily the peak torque. Broad flat torque curve can often beat a narrow peak curve.
For the dyno results, rather than peak numbers a graph of the torque curve may very well match well with the towing experience.
