The Future of Chryslers SRT Division

Sign of the times perhaps. The writing is on the wall regarding gas and diesel powered personal transportation. Heck even Jeep Wranglers will soon be EV’s.

I hope they can increase the range of EV's in the near future. I have no plans to buy a EV anytime soon but, that could change quickly.

Not quite axed, just no longer independent.

Stellantis, like any other company, won't say no to profit. If we look at SRT's lineup:

- Charger / Challenger, based on early 2000s E-Class
- Grand Cherokee / Durango, again, old ML / GL platform
- Wrangler, existing platform

Formula is just shove the biggest engine that fits, and bolt on the best suspension components, on either a paid off platform, or one that's cost-shared. It takes very little to float SRT, but $$$ profit.

My only experience with an SRT was my 2008 Caliber SRT4. It had all kinds of power, fast car. However, it was a $20,000 engine in a $21,000 car. In other words, the engine was incredible but the rest of the car was a POS.

Basically they are Changing the name of SRT. The name is going away, but the cars will still be designed..

I think most know that the OP (aka the Troller) likes nothing more than to disparage and throw mud at anything Chrysler related. This is just another example of him trying to do that.

Here is what Ralph Gilles, who is a bit more credible, had to say of the change in structure. Fear not. Chrysler performance vehicles aren’t going anywhere.

Sounds like a good plan to me.
I just spent a week in a new Bimmer 530i. I can say the "old" chassis that is under the 06 SRT we had and the 2016 SRT gives up NOTHING to the new bimmer for handling, NVH and solid chassis feel.

Sometimes the wheel doesn't need re-invented if you still have a great wheel...

Hope you're right, I guess 2022 models will tell that story. If there's no more blown Hemis and 500-700HP SUVs in the car lots, then that will be obvious.

Makes no sense to kill the name. In the name of branding, SRT is arguably up there with other big factory or factory backed performance branding, like Yenko, COPO, GT, Cobra, Shelby, SS, etc.
Heck other mfgs are dragging up some of these brands from the dead, for multiple generations and Stellantis is killing a legit one??

He!!, keep SRT and call it Stellantis Racing Technology!
