Theater seating and sofas

We just got word that our new TT is coming off the production line in a few weeks. We had ordered theater seating but apparently they can't install it because it won't fit. The dealer didn't elaborate but when we looked up theater seating for an RV (CW offers a set) it seems it's not the width, but the depth from front to back that's the problem. It looks like it would be 5-6" deeper.

Does anyone know if this is typical with all theater seating? I measured our set at home and it is 39" deep, just like the CW set. This would be in our slide which is the side and it would reduce the distance to the dinette across from it. We were really looking forward to this.

Plan B: We are wondering if there are more comfortable sofas available? Ours (jacknife type) is not all that comfortable to sit in because it's not very deep, especially for longer periods. It's about 34" front to back. I have no idea if these types of sofas are typical in all TTs? We've got 74" in width available and could live with something a couple of inches deeper. Our manufacturer has a "deluxe sleeper sofa" available in a different model line and perhaps that would be a bit more comfortable. Something with a puffier front edge with more support would help, even if the depth stays the same.

I notice that swivel/rocker/recliners need a lot of room to use. The appeal of the loveseat theater seating is the cup holders and one less thing to tie-down or move prior to travel and upon arrival/set-up. Zero-clearance for reclining is a very good thing too. It really boils down to how one chooses to use and RV. For me, I'd really like theater seating that can be reclined without moving the furniture away from the wall and the cupholders are more stable than a small table and that is an added bonus.
Blessings.

We went to IKEA and bought two Poang armchairs with footrests. They are amazingly comfortable and easy to move around. We removed the sofa that came with the trailer and saved at least 50 lbs in the process.

We picked up this reclining power sofa last week. Took the 5'er out camping this last weekend for 3 nights. Sofa was very comfortable.
It's a Best brand. $1195.00. It's a non wall hugger but can be ordered as a wall hugger. Has 2 built in USB ports just behind the center console lid. The seat backs come off so it was easy to put in the RV. I actually just took the 5'er down to the furniture store and helped the guy carry it inside.

Sorry for the big pic. I'm having trouble down sizing them. It's sent from my phone to my laptop.

I came across seating that looks and functions the same as theater seating but is only 33" deep, the same as a standard sofa. It's a double recliner made by De Leon for RVs. They even have a fold-down side table available. Because it is designed for RVs, it comes dismantled and will fit through an RV door.

For those who may be space limited this can be an option.

Went to the dealer today and checked out the only two other options from the manufacturer.

One is a pair of swivel rockers. But sitting in it I felt like I was a bobble head the way it moved all over the place. Fairly comfortable in the reclined position but no good for us it it won't stay still.

The other choice is a hide-a-bed sofa. It's only about 2" deeper front to back and feels more comfortable than the regular sofa. The downside is if it's used as a bed, when folded out, it'd be about 6" away from the dinette seating. We'd have to crawl over the bed to get from the bedroom to the kitchen. Not really an issue for us as 99% of the time it's only going to be two of us. We have a bedroom door and could always get to the kitchen by going outside and back in if someone was sleeping on the hide-a-bed. The two of us could also use it folded out for watching TV on the "big" 32 inch TV across at the dinette as opposed to using the little TV in the bedroom. Closer to the kitchen for snack food and favorite beverages too... Another plus is that we'd be capable of sleeping a total of 6 comfortably in a 29' TT. We'll lose the storage under the jacknife sofa but didn't have much in it anyway.

They had the theater seating in one unit. I didn't exactly find it was super comfortable so maybe it's a blessing in disguise.

So unless the factory says no way, it's the hide-a-bed sofa. This coming Monday is apparently the last day for any last-minute changes as it's about to hit the production line. Then we've just got to deal with the anxiety of waiting for it to arrive.

Maybe it will not go through the door.

so are you saying when the slide is in the theater seat will run into the corner of the bathroom? If you dont need the center console then just get a wall hugger recining loveseat. They are around 58" to 63" wide usually. Keep it to one side and it may work. I put in a LaZBoy this year and got rid of the jack knife (up in the loft in the garage), love it.

What I meant was when the slide is out, if the seats are 39" front to back, you have to sort of walk around the front of them as you walk from the front of the TT to the rear. With the angled wall they used to have, it wouldn't have been as tight to pass by.

So it's a recliner that was renamed to add an option and more $$$$$? Sounds like it's not worth it to me!

I see what you're saying. But in reality if you're in the chair reclined then when you get out it's in. So theoretically only one person would have to deal with one recliner being out. If they're both out then you're both in them. Make sense?

We will have the same problem with our rear sofa. It's right in front of the door. So if someone's in the reclined position then someone couldn't go out or come in. Not really that big of a deal as we usually only sit around inside when it's rainy out or in the morning. Once we get up and rollin we are outside in the loungers:)

It almost looks like two recliners would work better as you could swivel them if needed.

We have a LazyBoy loveseat (Pinnacle) that replaced Lane Theater seats. We actually switched it from our trade because it's more comfortable than most RV or residential loveseats.

It has to be pushed back towards wall to pull slides in, but there is enough clearance in front to recline and lift up the foot rest when slide is out and it's pulled away from the wall.

Would 2 recliners work? They can be at an angle and give you room to walk into the hall to the bathroom.
