- I changed mine out back in 2008 W/O adding the switch...just wired it for HI Speed all the time.
NEVER used LO Speed anyway - DW says we may use slow speed sometime so that is why I installed the switch. it comes on at low unless the switch is on.

Only tine sliw can be used is in fan only setting- My test show the switch will control fan speed in either heat or cool mode with thermostat set on auto fan.
