Thetford Cassette Not Flushing

It didn't work before when it was under warranty. They fixed it. I don't know if they replaced the circuit card. I called them the other day. I watched a video on YouTube about the impeller possibly being the problem. I looked at mine but playing with it didn't get it to work. Does anyone have any experience with this?
  • Trailmanor, water works. Electricity going to flush button. I'm leaning towards the impeller. Thanks.
  • gdeal, let's start with the basics. I believe you are saying you get no water when you hit the "flush" switch.

I have a Thetford cassette, and I don't know about a controller card. I believe mine only works from opening a valve, and letting the pressurized water flow. Is your water pump on? Do you get water from other faucets?

If your other faucets work, look at the wiring behind your flush switch. Make sure all are connected. If possible, check for current at the wires as they come into the flush-switch area. I wouldn't do anything else until I made sure there was current getting to the switch. Go from there with circuit checking.

    Good luck!
  • I fill the tank with water. When I first bought it, the prep people put a little blue stuff in there so I have been doing that. I don't think you're supposed to though and now that you mention it, maybe that has something to do with it. Oh and yes, I checked the yellow fuse and it is good. Thank you Jeremiah.
  • Okay, gotcha now.

Let's try the simple stuff first...

    * Did you fill the top tank with flush water?

    * have you checked the fuse if you have an electric flush?

    Thanks!

  • OH No.
The problem is not with the cassette itself. It does open up ok. I just have to use water from the shower hose because when I push the blue flush button, no water comes out. Someone on YouTube had the same problem and pulled the impeller out from under the flush button that contains a circuit card as well. Thanks for your reply and pics all the same.
  • See if these pic help.

There is only about a 1/8th turn to open the cassette mechanism up

    Thanks!

  • Thanks Jeremiah. So the case that the impeller is in seems to pull apart but I couldn't get it to budge. So I should try to pull it apart?
  • Yep, your blade mechanism is likely out of alignment....

Here is what you can do if you have a gray cassette tank with the wheels.

Flush your cassette multiple times with fresh water...

Get some rubber/latex free gloves and put them on.

You will see a blade cover that slides over the cassette blade and rubber seal...pull this cover about half way off and use it as a lever to unscrew the mechanism out of the cassette body,,,

You should see the circular design in the top of the cassette... This is designed to unscrew....

After you get it out the problem should look apparent to you...pop it back into place, test the blade operation by using the little green knob on the cassette... Clean up the blade seal and use dielectric grease to condition the seal.

Reinstall the mechanism into the top of the cassette.... It literally took me longer to type this than to fix the cassette.

    Thanks!
