You old geezers that was around when dirt was invented don't get it. LOL! It's not about how fast it will go but how fast you can get to the legal speed without spinning your tires and getting an improper take off ticket!:E
I drive like a gramps 99% of the time and even slower in my Vette but every now and then when that little kid pulls up beside me and revs his box of bumble bees I have to get my kicks every now and again. It's fun in the Vette but you know deep down inside that they knew they were going to get smoked but to do it in a grocery getting family packin' SUV or a big ole heavy diesel truck????? PRICELESS!:B

Somehow I need to figure out how to copy some old, I mean really old photos from the 60-70's with the 68 Chevelle sporting the 427 CI RAT. I bet that thing didn't weight 4k lbs :w My oldest son now has it, but I digress I suppose. Carrol Shelby was a customer of mine back in the late 60's early 70's. I was his paper boy and I can tell you he was a really nice man, good tipper too. He always took me out to his garage when I was collecting to see his new and latest Mustang or as he stated my " Newest Shelby" . He later engineered the Dodge Viper.
We lost him last year, but he lived a nice full life with many accomplishments.
And if you have to ask me what a "paper boy" is..... your about the same age of my grandsons.

What a neat experience & memory to have! A former colleague of mine was such a Shelby fan that he named his daughter Shelby. You've lived an interesting life if a total stranger names his first-born after you.
Obviously there are many of us here who feel that being a performance car & tow vehicle enthusiast isn't mutually exclusive! Anything with a motor that results in movement captures my interest (and I hope I don't grow up anytime soon).

That's not just a jeep, but one fast machine. My Shelby has launch control that is user adjustable from 2500 to 4000 RPM. Mash the gas pedal to the floor and it only revs to whatever you have it set at.....then dump the clutch. You folks must spend too much time dragging boxes on wheels down the highway. LOL
LOL
You need a line lock Cat!

What applications would one use "Launch" for? Beating someone to that parking spot at Wall Mart?
It would be useful for merging onto our freeways.
If you access freeways from a dead stop, I can see where this may help. But in the US, you access interstates and freeways from a merge lane, not from dead stops, unless you live around Dallas Texas at 5:00 pm!
