To 6.4 hemi owners
I was thinking about getting a '15 Ram with the 6.4 , but it states premium unleaded. The "14's used 87. It would not be worth to use premium over diesel for me. What is your opinion on this ?

Sam - My owners manual has less than 300 pages.
For the 5.7 and 6.4 engines it says "87 octane acceptable-89 octane recommended. - Page 818 of the 2015 Ram owners manual states that they recommend 89 octane for 5.7L and 6.4L engines now.
Ram Owners Manuals - Yep, Ram's with the 6.4 only need 87 octane. no need for premium.
- The 350 in my '13 requires 89 octane or better. It runs on 85-87 but the mileage was even worse than it is on the higher octane.
Higher octane supposedly helps the engine run cooler... something to consider if you're hauling near max capacity. - It uses regular unleaded only. Wherever it says premium is wrong. The SRT cars and jeep with the 6.4L Hemi use premium but the trucks use 87 only.
