The two way only removes hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide which is why they call it a two way since it only removes two pollutants. The three way catalytic converter removes hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, and NOx. (You want a hint as to why they call it a three way catalyst?) Gasoline engines constantly operate at stoich(or very close to it) while diesels don't which is why you will never find a three way catalytic converter on a diesel and only a two way since it does not require the engine to run at a stoich air/fuel ratio to do its job. So no, your assumptions are wrong again. Sheesh, you would think you would give up already after being proven wrong so many Diesels cannot have a three way catalytic converter because a three way requires the engine to run at a near stoichiometric (14.7:1) air/fuel ratio in order to work while a two way does not.times.

Do you even read the stuff you peddle... you wrote it yourself, a 2way cat doesn't remove "any" NOx but 3way will... problem as you said it won't work on a diesel engine!... the cat that was on my 2005 was useless.... no reason to carry the weight or put up with the restriction. Your losing your credibility...

Not once did I say that we should go to those extremes. NOT ONCE. So where you are getting this from is beyond me. All I have been saying is that these emissions devices are there for a reason, and removing them is careless, selfish, and irresponsible. These emissions devices are on these trucks so we don't have to go to the extremes that you just mentioned above. However, some think they are above everyone else and do not care if their choices of deleting these devices effects anyone. All they care about is themselves.

I never said that either. Man, where are you getting this stuff from? Is all these deleted diesel emissions finally getting to you and making you read things that aren't even there. I use ULSD in my 1964 Case tractor and NOX and PM is sky high (compared to a 2015 tractor). So no, ULSD did nothing or I guess I should say next to nothing for emissions.

Just like when we use to burn "leaded" fuel, they stopped adding lead to the fuel. Engines were destroyed, until someone came out with a lead additive. Car collectors were happy!

The "catalytic converter" on a diesel that you are referring to is the "two way" or DOC(Diesel Oxidation Catalyst). The DOC is not and does not do the same function as the SCR(Selective Catalytic Reduction) system that requires DEF or the NAC(NOx Adsorption Catalyst) that removes NOx. The DOC's job is to reduce carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions and are still being utilised on diesels today. So yes, the "catalyst" on the pre DEF engine was useless at reducing NOx since that was not it's job. It is the EGR (which you removed your in cylinder EGR) that has the job of reducing NOx by lowering combustion temps.

You are starting to sound like 6.6 Oilburner in making assumptions of how you think these systems operate.

The ULSD only reduces SOX formation. Oxides of sulfur result from burning, you guessed it, sulfur. SOX can't be converted to anything safer so the only way to control it is limiting sulfur in the fuel.

Sulphur is used in fertilizers, Shinner would have us not use it either, as Sulphur breaks down and mixes with the available Oxygen then we get all those nasty pollutants.

So now we have no means to process, grow food, or transport goods, are freezing to death, unable to cook our favorite steaks. Carbon dioxides are reduced to a point that all vegetation starts dyeing off and mother earth turns to dust... :E

Crushed limestone is used to remove sulfur in power and manufacturing plant outputs, but I have not seen a practical mobile application. BTW: SO2 emissions are what cause acid rain.

Sulfur is a contaminate for sensors and catalysts.

They had to go to ultra low or no sulfur fuels because the exhaust treatments would not work for very long if they kept it in the fuel. Same way with leaded fuel. I can't use an O2 sensor in the pipe of a race car because the lead would foul the sensor.
