All kidding aside, adding in a couple extra pillows and a couple blankets in the cabinets along the side of the cabover bed is precisely what we did to take up the empty space. In the cupboard we got a small lightweight 3 shelf drawer unit at walmart to keep towels in. It keeps things from sliding everywhere. I wouldn't say we have too much storage, but we certainly only use about half of it. We're pretty good about just bringing what we will use, and not "what if" things to death. So far so good.
