Between the truck and the camper I find I have too much storage space. I currently have a NorthStar 850SC and travel alone. I added storage because my last camper was just lacking in space. As a popup it has the support bars that run the length of the roof. In the dinette I added a cupboard. On either side of the bed I added nightstands. Both additions work out great and match perfectly with the items I need to keep handy. Now my 'problem'. Between the under bed and the 'dressers' down both sides of the bed, they're half empty and things slide towards the front while traveling. I guess I'll have to throw the extra pillows and blankets up in the front.

how about putting some dado cuts in the cabinet shelves and using some 1/4" strips as stops? Small amount of stuff, bring the stop closer to the front, a lot of stuff, move the stop back.

I confess to having too much storage space. For the first five years, I lived in my TC during the week due to my job location. I accumulated so much stuff, it was not unusual for me to find stuff in my TC that I forgot I had. I finally got it down now, I do not need stuff just because I have storage for it. I think now, I only use about 1/2 of my storage space, and I still have stuff I hardly ever use. One example is frying pans, do I really need four different ones?

Wow, finally somebody understands my humor. I meant this as more of a topic about gaining more storage. That is why I included the two links for ways to gain space. It's true I don't fill up all my space every time I go out, but depending on the trip, I fill different spaces with different things. I don't bring the dutch-oven every time, but when I do, I have a place for it.

We were paying close attention when my previous truck was borderline on weight. Now that I have more room to carry stuff, we haven't had the need to fill it all up. Maybe we will in the future! :)

Jeanie just read the title of this thread over my shoulder and said, "Too much storage is an oxymoron." Coming from the smallest size, storage-free Lance, I concur. Our paradigm dictates, "if you are not going to use it, loose it." Why? Because we have to. When I first read the title I thought someone is just having some fun with us with some shock and awe.

We use shoe box bottoms to contain items from sliding on the shelves. works well and lite weight. Bill

For clothes, what's dirty gets washed when I return home the put back in camper. I have everything except pants/jeans/shorts always in the camper. Depending on the season, and where I go will determine how many of each I load prior to leaving.
I keep summer and winter clothes in the TC. Most of my camping is in California, so you really never know if it will be cold or hot.

Well when it was the entire family going I could have pulled a 30' supply trailer and still needed more space. Now that the kids have grown when it is just me and my son we have LOTS of space and can carry enough food for 6 months. As soon as my wife comes along with me I am back to needing the supply trailer to haul all her stuff.

No kidding. My wife could forget everything else, but the beer is always the first thing stowed in the fridge. But then again, she needs it to deal with me, like medication. :B

We went from a large toy hauler to a small truck camper. If it wasn't for the extended cab of the truck or our enclosed trailer, we would hard pressed to carry the things we want to take with us when traveling. We don't feel you don't have to be a minimalist to go camping.

We also keep the TC fully stocked with clothes and dry goods. Getting the TC ready for a trip means filling the water, turning on the fridge and adding fresh food.
