Torklift question 2012 3500 ram

Hi all, several year lurker, first time poster. We have been traveling for several years with a 2002 short bed(6.5) srw 2500 ram and Lance camper. The truck handled the load great (to the tune of 45,000 miles) but I was a little concerned about the axle rating from dana so.....I picked up a 2012, 3500, cc 6.5 bed, 2wd,srw ram, CTD. Flew to Texas from Florida to pick it up. Love the truck but, for some reason it never occurred to me to check if torklift made a tie down for that truck. Guess what, torklift does not make it. They have been very helpful and have taken several measurements for me. 2 units are close but it is tough to tell. I have spent a couple of hours under the truck. Bottom line, I like torklift, I would rather have torklift than happijac( nothing against happijac). So the next question is, are there any similar trucks out there that have faced this problem? Keep in mind that the truck is 2wd, that seems to be the clincher. If I have left info out please ask. Thanks in advance for all responses
  • I converted the 2008 Torklift tiedowns to fit my 2013. Did not take much effort, but I do have all the tools.
  • i have a 2013 long bed 3500 4x4 dually crew cab and I went to lance camper for my torklift tie down, they needed my vin # and had the correct set up for my truck in a few days. I have a tube frame chassie
  • I have nothing to add, just surprised that none is available.
My 2010 Ram Dually 4x4 fit just fine.
    Good Luck.
  • Maybe a road trip to Torklift in Sumner, WA is a possibility. with or without the camper.
The folks on here have some ideas of how to secure a camper temporarily to a truck, maybe some type of belly bar??
Or as Wintersun suggested a local shop could modify or even build you a set of tie downs.
    Good luck
  • Thanks for the responses. I actually have spoken with torklift several times and while they do make a rear tiredown that will work they have never tested a front tie down for that truck. They have a couple that are close but to really know I am going to have to have them in hand to try. I am probably going to go that way and modify or, as suggested, go with Happijac. Anyway, thanks again.
  • I bought Torklift tie-downs that were supposed to be correct for my 2011 GM standard bed truck but it turned out that I had to trim metal away from 3 of the 4 mounts to get them to fit properly and not interfere with the brake line and fuel line. You may find yourself in the same position where the ones that are close could be modified by you or a local shop to get them to work.

I could see using the Happijac up front and Torklift at the rear as an option to minimize the customization effort.
