Towing a 28 ft. Trailer on CA 32 from Chico to Lassen

We are driving from Grass Valley, CA to Lassen, towing a Trail Lite Trek, 6000 lbs., and want to know if CA 32 from Chico to Lassen is advisable. Otherwise we would take the Red Bluff to Lassen route. Thanks.

I certainly haven't looked at a map, but Grass Valley to Lassen NP seems to me you would take either I80 or 49 to 89 then take 89 around Almanor to Lassen.

However, really the choice between 32 or 36 they are both very similar roads, not sure I would have too much of presence between the 2. Except you can always stop in at the Bambi Inn should you take 32.

I have taken my 41 foot diesel coach up both routes, toward
    Lake Almanor, near Lassen.

I found a big difference between the 2 options.

Hwy 36 is much less tight and narrow than Hwy 32. Takes a little
longer but if your set-up is more than 36 feet you may want to
    avoid Hwy 32.
  • Thank you to all of you who replied. I think we will go the conservative route and avoid the extreme curves.

  • Hwy. 32----
Hwy 32 would not be my first choice to tow a trailer. The road is 2 lane and full of curves so you really have to watch that your trailer stays in you lane, especially when meeting oncoming cars. Many people do tow up 32 and as long as you take it easy and keep your rig on your side of the white line it is doable. Personally it would not be my choice if I had an alternative route to use.
