We took Hwy 2 from the Whitefish Point area - camped at Tahquamenon - and across the top, then turned off to head south to Green Bay. It's been a few years and I don't recall that there was much in the way of gas stations/restaurants. The road itself was good and a pretty, scenic drive. I would make sure to have a full tank when you head out. I do remember stopping at a terrific winery not far from where we headed south. If we had any wine left, I'd tell you the name, but you can just search Michigan Wineries if interested. When are you planning this? Probably not a stretch I'd want to travel if you're thinking before spring....whenever that is up there. Enjoy and be safe.
