TV Antenna (New Style

I have one of those and it got several channels, but I use a winegard dish now.

Having no Television reception is not an issue for me, when I am camping with tent and canoe.

But, when I have opted for a microwave to heat my morning coffee, I also like to catch the morning weather and news before I sally forth for a days adventure. :)

Not a problem for me where I camp the nearest TV station is 135 miles away

My two cents, I spent the money an bought a King antenna to replace my original Winegard antenna. The antenna is marginally better and can use the same antenna amp power supply.

However the money would have been better spent to buy another TV to replace the Jensen that came with the TT. I ran my Wal-Mart special from home next to the Jensen and it would continue to work when the signal dropped and the Jensen stopped working.

I am looking for a TV that fits the old TV mounting frame.

I can tell you from experience, this style of antenna is terrible. Antennas that you can raise and rotate work much better. I have an identical design, identical specs, but a different manufacturer. It does an excellent job of picking up radio stations, but it doesn't pick up very many TV channels at all. Also it struggles to maintain a signal with the channels that it actually picks up. Other friends have had similar experiences with their omni's that are the same style.

From my driveway I should be able to receive close 30 channels with relative ease according to TVFool signal analysis. The omni on the trailer was only able to pick up 3 in total on my last attempt. If the tower is more than 20 miles away then it struggles. If you're close to the towers and have few obstructions then it will work fine. Previous batwings could get signals from towers 50 miles away.

After a year of struggling with it, I gave up. In order to replace it with a batwing I would have to drill into the ceiling and the wife decided against that. So we just went with satellite and have been happy since.

We have a 2016 Outback that lost its antenna like this during travel. We were left with the coaxial cable and a small wire sticking out of the roof. Does anyone know what the small wire is for? We got a replacement antenna (same kind) but neither the TV nor stereo will pull in reception now. The stereo won't even power on. Wondering if the antenna blowing off pulled some connection wires loose inside walls or ceiling?

In our last TT we had an Omni-directional antenna. Could not pick up stations unless we were very close to them. Our new camper has the roll up and turn style, not a problem finding stations from the same campgrounds.

just wiki'ed omni-directional antenna. came up with Omnidirectional antenna, an antenna that radiates equally in all directions. shouldn't need rotation nor look like the old bat wing, JMHO

It certainl looks like a KING ANTENNA knock-off to me... Havent looked up anything on it.

I bet it rotates but doesn't raise up/down just like the JACK antenna does shown here.


Looking at the OP photo however those dipole ends looks like they will get rather close to the Air Conditioner if it did rotate.

Being from the ham radio world I like the idea of bigger dipoles as compared to the Jack Antenna small stubbies that stick out of it.

Me gonna have to look at some specs to steer me away from the JACK antenna...

I did play with one these OMNI two dipole antennas and it sucked big time... It stows inside my trailer real good so became a PLAN B item.
