Wow Pappcam I just noticed your trailer in your signature... how do you like it?

We love it but it's just me, the wife and the 6 year old daughter and a 50 pound dog. The mother-in-law has stayed in there with us when she visits as well so it suits our needs quite well.

The 2012 model I have has the single bunk over the double instead of the double over double that the new ones have. It's a little less claustrophobic for the person in the lower bunk.

I looked at bigger models with the outdoor kitchen when we bought but I realized I'd be pushing the limits of my truck so we went with the lighter trailer to give us a more pleasant drive. I'm not saying that you couldn't pull the 29FBSS and be satisfied with the drive, it's just that I thought the lighter model was a good fit for us.

I agree about the drive.. Plus with a toddler and a 6 month old I really want to be safe as i can.. so you have a nice smooth ride?

6k dry is a good limit for RVing families and most half tons. Go for it!

We are upgrading from our 2006 Kodiak Skamper Hybrid..The TT is about 10 foot bigger than the hybrid but we definatly need the room for our growing family..Im prett sure my vehicle is good to go for towing, its a 5.7 f150 I called Ford directly and they said 7,700 lbs is my max. the trailer is just at 6,000 lbs..

would love to hear some input form anyone who has this trailer or knows someone who does, or about forest river products.. Good or bad..

Must be a 5.0L as that's the same towing capacity as my 2011 F150 with the 5.0L.

Is that a "dry weight" of 6000 lbs.? My trailer is about 6300 lbs. loaded for travel and I wouldn't want bigger or heavier with my truck.

Edit: Just checked. That 6000 lbs. is dry weight. That's going to be 7500-8000 lbs. loaded for travel.

We went from a ROO 23SS to a Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604. Our "dry" weight is 5585 and GVWR is 6629. You probably should double check the weights on the new TT you're thinking about as it seems to low compared to ours and it's 3' or so shorter. Remember to allow yourself 1000# wiggle room between your GVWR and the towing max of your truck. Hope it will work out for you. We loved our HTT and never intended to make a change but age got the best of us....ours not the ROO's. Very happy with our 2604. Happy Camping!

Ford hasn't had a 5.7L engine in many years, maybe ever. So maybe that was just a typo.

Can you provide more information about your truck? Do you have the HD towing package? Axle ratio? Year? If 2006+, payload per the tire and loading sticker?
