VIDEO: Treating Charlie's Feline Diabetes and Chiwawa River
VIDEO: How we treat our cat CHARLIE's Diabetes on the road and home
I thought I'd share a video on how we treat our cat Charlie's diabetic condition. We noticed Charlie not doing well and took him to the veterinarian and discovered he had diabetes with his blood glucose number being about 430. Normal range for a cat is 90 to 140. We treated him with insulin and diet for 2 years and now he's been in remission the last couple years. We still monitor his blood glucose every couple weeks to keep an eye on his condition. We also only feed him the highest protein, lowest carbohydrate canned foods available, INSTINCT and BFF or Best Friends Foods. We also give Charlie INSTINCT kibbles but only as a treat, 12 kibbles 2 times a day, AM PM because they have carbs. As long as we stick to this diet plan, he seems fine. Charlie is older than 16 years now, the exact age we don't know as he is a rescue cat.
I show the testing equipment and do a test, then show the insulin injection system and give Charlie a shot. I also talk a bit about our experience treating Charlie. Charlie lives a good and happy life!
The Charlie video was part of an earlier camping video near Lake Wenatchee, camped on the Chiwawa River.
