VIN for cabover camper

Our 2007 Adventurer has a proper 17 digit V.I.N.

lol, I hear this stuff every once in awhile. Canada has some strange policy's for when 'VIN's don't fit into a prescribed slot.

I have two actual VIN's for vehicles that are short; one is six digit, and one only has five digit's. Several that are 8 or 9.

Your agent isn't an idiot, he's just stuck with what he knows and/or a system that is inflexible.

In Washington, they (TC's) are assigned a VIN; often it is the serial number. But these things are titled in this state (don't ask...that horse has been beat to death).

Making up a Vin is just dumb. If you have to make a claim first thing they will look for is that Vin number. Do you think they will pay the claim when they can't find it? Your agent is not doing his job if they can't insure it for what it is. I have State Farm they had no problems with it.

Our insurance policy just has the short serial number in the VIN box.

I have the same camper only a 2000 model. Mine also only has five numbers I would just add zeros in front.

Had to drive ours TC down to DMV with all paperwork & #'s Rep. had to ID it on the truck. no VIN #.

As I recall our Adventurer had a 5 digit VIN. Our Eureka had an aluminum VIN plate with 6 digits yet the MSO included some lettering with those digits at the end totalling 16 characters. Our Travel Lite MSO has a classic 14 character VIN leading with the model designation and trim level ending with 6 numerals. It appears that there is no rhyme or reason or standard for truck camper IDs. My State Farm agent simply asked me to send him a photo of the plate on the camper for identification purposes only.

Ask the agent what VIN has his tent?

Truck camper is not a vehicle. No wheels, no vin, no plates.....tell your agent it is an accomodation that you are hauling in the box of your truck that is known in the rv industry as a slide in truck camper.
Find an insurance agency that sells mainly rv insurance and they should know what you are talking about. Make, model, year, box length, value, serial number if it has one.

Your agent has no clue what a TC is. All he knows about RVs are is that they are motorhomes or trailers which is why he wants a VIN
