Water issues

Just when we thought everything was fixed a new issue! Any idea why when pumping out the water lines with 12v pump water would come OUT of the City water inlet? Just drips until I fiddle with the spring on city water fill, back flow preventer?, then it RUNS and the hot water tank drains, glug, glug, glug. Not draining thru the low point drain at all and checked that for obstructions. Haven't used it since last repairs done and replaced the hot water heater tank and install on new potty/ shower/stool combo and when testing the connections for that used water pump and didn't notice any leaking from city water line then. Really weird. Sounds almost like a line not connected properly. Have call in to camper repair guy but we're supposed to leave for three week trip Friday. GREAT! Any ideas?
  • Someone else had the same issue recently here. I think its a check valve.
  • Common problem. Replace entire valve assy. It's there to keep pumped water from leaking out.
  • Yes, been looking online everywhere and decided that is the easiest fix. Hope not much has changed in the 24 years since camper was built connection wise. Another thought I had was an issue with the also ancient water pump. Don't know if I'm handy enough to replace either or both, whichever required. Sure hope my friendly neighborhood traveling camper repair guy can help in our stupidly short time frame! At least it cropped up now at home rather than first night camping somewhere along the road in the dark. Tomorrow is another day and supposed to be nice and warm for working with water. Now if we just didn't need the truck on the job we could load camper and get it out of the barn where water running all over didn't require buckets and mopping! Big sigh and an oh well, it's only money.
  • Yup, have one of those in my "water fix it" closet on camper. It will work in a pinch but harder to keep from freezing back down the water line, if we decide to refill or hook up instead of working out of water cans. Have wag bags for potty to super dry camp, just not fun for three weeks. Just been fixing here and there for so long would really like to be done for a while, but there's always maintenance even with a new camper. At least with old one you expect it to a certain degree. Kinda like us old folks, always need fixing.
