Water pump replaced on 2005, Dodge RAM 2500 Diesel

Today my 2005 Dodge RAM 2500 Diesel (5.9l) had it's water pump replaced. For several days I saw a drip turn to a puddle and then into a steady stream. My local mechanic did it in only 2hr. and with a new water pump I can not see any fluid on the ground under the truck. Finally.

As stated - it's a 2005 and has only 150k km which translates into approx. 125k miles. And I'm hopeing it will be around for 2 to 3 yrs. or more!

Bottom line - $300.00 cdn. or approx. $267.50 USD.

:D
  • 2 hours? He must have spent an hour and a quarter cleaning up. ;)

Seriously they're an odd item. They can go 80K or 400K, you just never know.
  • Mine started leaking just after we had pulled on the ferry at Dauphin Island, AL.

Deck Master walked over, leaned down and then looked at me with a quizzed look on his face....."Your truck afraid of the water?" "It's peeing on my deck!"

Yep...water pump puking all over his deck. 80,000 miles

After I located the 'golden coolant' and a new pump, changed it out in an hour when we got back to the island.
Marine shop was kind enough to let me use repair bay.

Yep. When I did mine it took about a half hour. New one with lifetime warranty was $55.
  • Mine went at 70K miles, replaced under warrantee. When it went out,it was complete, lots of noise and water all over the place.Had to have the truck and trailer towed in,spent the night at the Dodge dealers used car lot.Great fun!
  • Replaced ours at 80,0000 also.

That has been the ONLY repair this truck has needed.

It is at 150,000 miles now. Best truck I have ever owned.
  • Had mine replaced at 90K miles under warranty. Let loose as I pulled into the driveway. Warranty covered the tow to the dealer.
  • I had to replace mine in the 2007 at about 105,000 miles. It had just started leaking a drop or two out of the weep hole.
