What does length mean?

Sorry, I have spent significant time reading online and still haven't found this answer. If a TC is 11'6" or whatever length, what, exactly, does that mean? What is that length?
  • It's an indirect spec that indicates how much beer can be carried in the camper.
  • Beware that floor is not always the end of the camper.
Mine 11'6" has big bumper/step that adds almost a foot.
Bottom line, total length of 11'6" is about 20 feet
  • Yes, campers are generally classified by floor length, meaning the part you walk on. The cabover bed does not count in this because you can't walk up there.

Generally it means the floor length, but that could vary by several inches. For example an Arctic Fox 1150 has a floor length of 11'4" and a total length of 19'0". The total length includes the cab over and rear bumper length.
  • Usually TCs are measured based on the length of the floor. An 11' 6" unit would stick out 3' 6" beyond an 8' truck bed or 5' 6" longer than a 6' bed.
