Window shades on 2014 keystone hideout

We just pulled in with a new travel trailer. 2014 keystone hideout. Our first! Can anyone please tell me how to get the shades up on the windows? This is a stupid question, but we have tried everything. We just want to let light in and cannot figure it out. Thanks!

Make sure that you keep each metal bar horizontal as you raise the shades. Do it with the darker (upper) portion first, and then the lighter (lower) portion.

Grab from the bottom and lift the shade right up... Do NOT pull on any of the strings !!

What kind of shades?

If they are Day/Night shades, the darker part has to come up first then the lighter bottom...can't raise both at the same time.
