Inquirees have made me think a bit...

and to share 2012 SPRING LOOP

the general plan... miss the tornados.... be home before the first of June

We are heading south thru Jimmy Carter country to Tallassee... and he coast... getting away from the middle America E/W interstates and the tornado alleys.

We'll be heading west and then down toward Brownsville... then follow the border to NM... North as far as rocky Mtn NP and then head east thru Nashville toward the end of May... we have never been inside the State Capital.

I'll be posting some as we go...

PS... the camperport did great in the storms, no damage that I can see... best $3500 I spent last year. I highly recommend it.

We have been following this thread since before we left Georgia on 4/3 and have passed many of the same areas as you. We did turn south to hit Corpus Christi and then up to San Antonio, both to visit Vietnam Veteran buddies and then to Big Bend. North thru Van Horn to Guadalupe Mountain National Park then west thru El Paso to Columbus.
Very windy here but the temps aren't to bad. Had a great lunch yesterday in Polomas, Mexico. Have a safe trip.

We went to columbus 2 years ago... Poncho Villa was gutsy.

Turn south off I-10 to US191... to Sunsite... go to Cochese's Last Strong Hold... meet the Budster... very nice.

Sleepy, I missed you in Oak Ridge this weekend. We were there for a regatta and actually camped Fri and Sat nights on the peninsula point past the Chinese Restaurant (you know the one). We had a great view of the race finish line and the boat launch area. Sat was a beautiful day for the race and tailgating. We had the Auburn University Crew team (our son rows for them) set up their tent next to us so we used our generator and camper to help cook and feed the kids between races. It was great with everyone using our camper as a base of operations for the race even though we hadn't planned it that way. Sunday, we had a steady rain and we were busy serving hot chocolate out of the back of our camper. We had both awings out so folks could get out of the rain but still see the race. We enjoy the camper more each time we use it. Best wishes.

We have spent many days and a few nights on that point. We'll probably be more concerned with Auburns football team than their rowing crew by the time we get home.

Was this a qualifier or the main event? Best of luck to your son.

Glad you weren't in Colorado this weekend. You wouldn't have liked it. We had around 4 feet of snow in the storm Friday night through Sunday morning. Sunday was beautiful and cloudless. The roads are dry again, with giant snow banks on the shoulders. Made some money plowing with my skidsteer though!

We had a great time last evening with local friends, Steve and his beautiful wife. We had dinner at "Rawhide".... a western town that was moved to Wild Horse pass from Scottsdale a few years ago. The steaks were very good and my salmon was too... my cardiologist would be proud of me.

We have several other friends in the area that we need to contact... the warm weather and lazy days are contributing to our slow pace.

I seem to be making progress on the data card... push, push, push. The option GT Ultra express has an external antenna connection for trhose of us that take our TC's far off road... like reddog1, the master of this sort of thing.

It is cold in AZ... the iceburgs melting are freezing us.

Good morning from Wild Horse Pass Casino in Chandler AZ.

Today is our 746th day in the camper... over 6 years.

We have now been in a campground for 5 nights... all of the rest boondocking.

We stayed with the Budster (TC Forum member) where he is the campground host until May 2.

It is "campground lite" only 8 total spaces with NO services... and a dispersed area near by.

It is "Cochese's last Sronghold" in south east AZ. A most beautiful place.

Budster is a fantastic person... we shared meals and a lot of good times.

Beddows came the last 2 nights. He and I hiked the mountains.

We'll be hanging out here for a short while... then to higher elevations when the temps get to 100 or more.

Having a very good time.

After 18 days in the SA MS truck camper hospital we finally hit the road this morning. We scraped the more northernly route... it's just too cold further north.

We plan on spending our 738th night in our truck camper where we are parked at this moment in Van Horn, TX.

It's a funky little rail road town with not much going on. Just a crossroads to carlsbad caverns and Big Bend National Park.

We can see I-10 from where we are parked on "main street". This afternoon we saw a truck camper pulling an enclosed trailer heading east on I-10. Any of you?

Tomorrow we'll pass through El Paso and probably stay in Las Cruses overnight... nice place, good food, and friendly.

Should be in Phoenix by mid week.

We might be in Phoenix (Chandler) by then... we are still in San angelo, TX... both of us have bronchities... I'm about over it.

I think we may go through Roswell, NM, get on US 60 and follow it thru Globe, AZ and into Chandler... friendly casinos... good weather, good food. Avoid the border... been there and done it anyway.

We are about three hours east of there 26 miles NW of Knoxville. Closer to the Smoky MT Nat. park. It gets better the further east you go.
