we stopped in Cortez, CO at the visitor center...and then on to Mesa Verdi.
My wife felt safe on this section of road... soon we were on hog backs that were 2000 feet above the surrounding areas... scary for those with acraphobia (if that is being afraid of heights).
But what you see from the top is worth it.The area was flat when you get up there.
We ended up checking into the lodge... if we came back down I knew that I'd never get her up there again.
