All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsSummer 55+ RV ParkWe are thinking about finding one place to spend about 3 to 4 months of thesummer in our RV instead of traveling all summer. We would prefer a 55+ park, but would consider other parks. The most important thing is that the park has a sense of community with activities, as well as some amenities in the park and a town close by for shopping, restaurants, movies etc. We are also trying to get out of the Texas heat, so we are looking at heading north or somewhere cooler.Any suggestions for RV parks that meet this criteria or sources for information on how to find these types of RV parks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!Re: Going to Colorado Springs up the Raton PassThanks everyone for the info. Sounds like I am remembering it much worse than it is. Sounds like no need to worry or unhook. Thanks for the quick responses.Going to Colorado Springs up the Raton PassWe are headed up to Colorado Springs through the Raton Pass this summer. We've driven it by car and know how long and steep it is, so we are considering unhooking our car from the RV for the climb. Can't quite remember the area too well and wonder where would be a good place to hook up again on our way to Colorado Springs. Is Colorado City past most of the climb or do we need to wait until Pueblo? I'd appreciate any thoughts on this by those who drive this frequently.Re: 5 Dangerous Road Trips in the USAInteresting.... we've driven the I-10 toward Phoenix from CA MANY times in both car and RV. Never thought of this as dangerous. Boring yes, but at least the speed limits are high. And we also drove Montana Hwy 2. A bit boring also but a VERY easy drive as a way to travel and miss the mountain passes. We did stay at one motel/campground and I commented to the person checking me in that it was interesting that the two were combined. She looked at me funny and said she thought they were all like that. Apparently, she never got out of that small town.Driving Albuquerque to Ruidoso Downs, NMWe are driving our RV with tow from Albuquerque to Ruidoso Downs. We're staying at a campground on US 70 and our GPS is telling us to take I-25 south to US 380 to US 70. Just wondering how steep this drive is or if anyone has driven this and has any insight into the drive. Thanks!Re: Ez pass and tt.. Which state to buy from?I live in Texas and I got mine from Virginia. Some states require a deposit but Virginia didn't if you did auto replenish through your bank account. I've had one pass for the RV and one for the car for many years and had no trouble, except once in a while when I don't use it for a while, they send me an email about returning it. I just call, tell them it's for an RV and they extend it...no big deal. Also their customer service is very good. I called a couple other states and just didn't want to do business with them.i-35 Austin to Oklahoma CityHas anyone driven I-35 Austin to Oklahoma city route lately? I know traffic is always heavy but a friend told us the traffic is really bad south of Ardmore and north of Springer and that's what the traffic maps show too. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this lately going north on I-35. Heading north on Thursday, 7/2.Colorado Springs, CO to Santa Fe, NMHas anyone driven I-25 south from Colorado Springs to Santa Fe, NM? I am familiar with the Raton Pass going south but wonder what the climb is like heading into Santa Fe. We've only approached Santa Fe before from Albuquerque. Any experience shared would be appreciated. Thanks!Off leash dog parksWe will be traveling this summer with a young puppy who needs LOTS of exercise. Although we walk and jog with him, we find that letting him run in an off leash dog park with other dogs is just what he needs. Does anyone know of any online listings or books that list off leash fenced dog parks and/or RV parks with fenced dog runs?
