I have no intention of running more than one charging device at a time...I was just curious that since solar panels require a blocking diode, whether backflow was an issue with the other charging sources when they are not in use. Sounds like it's not an issue. Still learning.General charging questionI'm curious about the possibility of "back flow" in a charging system, given the multiple charging sources on most RV's (shore power, generator, alternator). What keeps one charging source from potentially harming another? I know that solar panels should have a blocking diode for this purpose. Is there a similar blocking device on each charging source before connecting to to the batteries?Which dehumidifier do you use?Hi all: we have a 30' class C motorhome that's been stored all winter under a cover. It's gotten quite damp inside despite no leaks and several Dry-Z-Air desiccant containers spread around, so it's evident we need a dehumidifier. Which ones would you recommend? How large/small? Floor or table-top? I see that with some you can run a drain hose to the outside or to your gray water tanks. Any feedback appreciated...thanks!Dry winter parkingWe have a 29' Bigfoot class C and plan on keeping it parked for the winter in our driveway, which is gravel. I'm concerned about rust and mildew issues. The surface drains well, but the water table here is high during the winter and everything under the rig will be very damp until spring....no puddles or standing water though. Paying for covered storage and/or paving the drive are out of our budget at present. Question: do any of you use some sort of a moisture/vapor barrier to park your motorhome on to reduce the ground moisture? Thanks!Re: Propane smell after fillingUpdate...it's a leaking tank...pinholes from rust. Having it drained at a propane plant now. Check your tanks for corrosion everyone! Thanks for all your suggestions!Re: Propane smell after fillingYes...on-board horizontal tank. Thanks...I tightened it a bit more...hopefully that's the issue.Propane smell after fillingHi all: We're presently on a trip though Idaho and Utah. I had the propane topped up at an RV park and now several hours later there's an odor of propane on the outside near the tank despite having driven 100 mi. No smell inside. I've noticed this before after fill-ups. Is this common? Also, I have to admit being rushed during the full-up and (like an idiot) did not shut off the tank main valve first. Could this be an issue? We're avoiding using any propane appliances until I figure this out. Thanks in advance.Tire chains questionsHi all: We have a 29' Bigfoot on a Ford E450 chassis with dualies in back. Plans are to head out Oct. 1 for a month in the Southwest from home in NW Washington State. While I wont seek it out, I know the possibility of hitting snow and ice exists over some of the passes we plan to travel. What do you all recommend for tie chains? Also, do you chain up only the outer rears or all 4? Thanks in advance!Re: Alignment shop recommendations for pacific NWLes Schwab is where I went initially. The technician was very nice but admitted that they usually refuse to work on the "double cam" inserts as he called them, as they don't have the correct tools to make the adjustments. I offered to buy a set of tools but they said they couldn't help me. They did get the initial reading and reset my toe-in, all no charge.
