The brakes were working as always going down but when we started back when I broke hard the trailer brakes would pulse violently. When it did this the voltage reading on the brake control was steady but it was as if the brake were on-off-on-off.... The control is an older prodigy and it gave no faults when it did this. Also when you applied the manual on the control it didn't do the pulsing. I turned the boost feature off and had the same deal. Once home and unhitched I took the truck out and hit the brakes hard multiple times and no pulsing from the truck. The only idea I have is the control is bad or a wire grounding out, though if grounding I figured the prodigy would have gave a fault warning. Any Ideas would be helpful!Re: A/C started making rough noises today. What should I check?Remove the cover and I will lay money on the table that you will see a mud-daubers nest on the fan hub. Same thing has happened to me. Once at home the other on arrival in Charleston SC. It's a quick fix if that's what it is. They will build one Especially if it's been sitting unattended and off.Re: Travel trailer brakes - magnet questionI would get them looked at they all need to be opened and cleaned. As for the one sticking if you lost the magnet clip I think the spring would push the magnet right off of the swing arm. If its stays on the clip is probably there. I would check the pin where the arm pivots on top for crude or rust causing it to freeze up. I had one do that without being mudded up and it would heat the brakes up on that wheel. To answer the question of how far and how fast I would be afraid to answer. With an inundation of water/sand/mud mixture there could be problems with the brakes working improperly or not at all. I know this may not be what you want to hear but I myself would be scared to death to trust them. They may work fine and may break down on the side of the road.Re: James Island County Park, Charleston SC places to eat/seeTry Bowen's Island Seafood. IT's on the right going towards Folly Beach on Folly RD. There is a sign and then drive out to the end of the road. You want regret it. Excellent seafood and great atmosphere/scenery!Re: BRAKES ON FIFTHWHEELYes Adjusting the brakes should help. Our new fiver needed an adjustment bad. I figure the delivery of the unit seated them and I adjusted them and made a big difference. A new set of brakes would be the same, though I would think if they were adjusted properly when replaced they should work fairly effectively even though they were not wore in.Re: Bent / Broken Superglide 2700???That looks like an over 90 degree turn that done that damage. If you look close even the plastic glide blocks and slide rails are messed up. The block on the capture plate may have sheared off. I would cry if that was mine.....well I would probably curse... huff...puff then cry! I expect nearly the whole hitch is toast and will be expensive to fix.Re: Superglide capture plate metal wear??Well what I see is the possibility that the hitch locking mechanism is touching the block. Its possible the capture plate is not centered on the king pin and is slightly forward of where it should be. I went out and looked at mine and its centered around the king pin. The hole in the capture plate is bigger than the king pin.Re: BW's that don't driveI guess I very lucky my DW loves to pull the fiver. She can drive it as good or better tham me. She had friends that had a farm and grading buisness and learned to drive the big vehicles including pulling a low-boy trailer with a bulldozer on it. So I am very comfortable when she drives, but a funny thing is her mother isn't so comfortable....last summer the DW wife drove to Myrtle Beach and her mom prayed all the way down! We made it safe and hads some laughs. I am very proud she does tow the fiver and I know all the DW's out there could with practice. You go DW's and single lady's!Re: Hot brake drumI am thinking this is a trailer we're talking about if not disregard. We had one do this and upon pulling the hub I found the pivot for the brake magnet arm was almost seized. when the brakes applied it would not totally disengage the shoes. The others mentioned above could also be it.Re: Trailer to Fifth-Wheel TransitionWell, the two main things I had to relearn was the fiver cheats more when turning and that makes it easier to curb the tires. The second is height... My fiver with bedroom A/C is 12ft 5in tall. For me those two things are the ones that stand out. One other is making sure the king-pin is latched correctly. If a trailer drops of the hitch is not good on the trailer jack etc. ... but if the fiver drops, wham truck and trailer have major damage. I can tell you when you hit the road the first time you will be so amazed how well a fiver tows they do have a different though. Man even my DW was like this is great the first time she drove with it!
