If the generator was idling with no load while the econo switch was on, plugging in the trailer would cause it to cut out. I can't recall if it stalled or whether the overload circuitry kicked in. In any case, if I turned the econo switch off it handled the charging without a hiccup.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread Old & Slow wrote: Makes one wonder when you click on the profile of many new posters on this thread.:h What ever happened to 'Tony F' and many others that come on and post about their new Champion and we never hear back from them. Sorry O&S - I resemble that remark. :) I'm one of the early adopters. Sorry I haven't been able to post any updates. Truth be told, we only used the genset on one trip to charge the batteries a couple of times. I tried to get it to start the 13.5K BTU A/C but no go. I wasn't expecting that to work without a hard start kit. Didn't try the microwave as we have yet to use it. With the batteries somewhat depleted, I had to turn the econo mode switch to Off at first. After it had charged for a little while (half an hour?) I was able to turn the switch back on without stalling, and the RPMs and therefore noise level dropped. It's not all that loud even with econo mode off, but with it on I'm especially happy with the noise level. I think for our purposes - occasional battery charging - it'll be perfect. It's light, small and quiet. I don't have a SPL meter but do have a Kill-A-Watt and a Fluke scope meter so maybe when I get time I can hook up various resistive and inductive loads and see how it does.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread byates wrote: My concern would be that they were shipped before the previously reported bugs were resolved. Yes that's my main concern too... and why I said I'd be the guinea pig. :-) However it is Costco after all. If it doesn't perform properly, I'll return it. The packaging (and the info plate, as pictured) has French on it and mentions costco.ca, so I presume this production run is specifically for Costco in Canada. As I said before I haven't really used it other than firing it up and running a couple of power tools. My only "complaint" so far is that the oil check/fill plug is behind the back panel. You need to remove 4 screws to get to it. Somehow I don't think the oil level is going to get checked daily as they suggest. HouseApe wrote: So is it 1600 continuous and 2000 peak ? Yes that is correct.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread curt12914 wrote: My question is, Can the Canadian version be paralleled? Yes it has the parallel connectors and the manual & packaging mention it.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread professor95 wrote: Champion says NO WAY. Way. :) I figure what the heck - I'll be the guinea pig. Seems pretty quiet, especially when idling. It's noticeably louder at the exhaust end, so if you can point that away from the campsite it should be great. It hunted a bit in econo mode when running a heavier load (Makita disc grinder rated 12.5A) but eventually settled down. No hunting with econo mode off. Won't know for a week or so whether it would run the A/C but I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully it will last a few years.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator Thread byates wrote: Now I'm confused again (BBB issue being the most recent) . How can the new inverter generator already be in the store if, as reported on July 12, the bugs in the initial design were not going to be worked out until late August at the earliest? I will check out my local Costco today. The Canadian price is enticing. Not sure what it will translate in to US dollars. Yes that surprised me too. I was up in PG and saw they had the Honeywell for $479 or $489 (can't remember exactly). I had the chance to stop in here in Langley - I was going to take another look at the Honeywell. But they have the Champion here. After I saw it I came online to research, found this thread and learned that it's impossible that I saw it there. :) We're going camping the week after next so I may just pick one up and give it a whirl.Re: The Official unofficial CPE 2000i Generator ThreadI was in the Costco in Langley, BC today and I saw the 2000W Champion inverter genset is now in stock. Price is $499 CAD. The parallel kit is not available in store and is not yet listed on costco.ca so the price is still unknown. The picture of it shows it's designed to fit between two stacked units, and it has the round 120V 30A socket instead of the 20A socket on the individual units.
