I'm thinking of cutting 1 inch away from the cabinets so i'll have something to seam the carpet to. this winter will see new tarps over the rig.Re: water damaged floor, Need guidance...companies that sell zinc plated hardware and call it rust resistant is a joke. spend a little extra and use stainless steelRe: water damaged floor, Need guidance... kellem wrote: 1990? Time for the scrap yard. Is it that immaculate that it justifies a floor rebuild or simply a time peice that you don't want to let go of. Weigh the pros and cons. pros: 1 overall condition is very good 2 it's paid for 3 I'm a diy'er any repairs are done by myself, cheap labor 4 i'm the second owner and purchased it 20 years ago with 75,000 miles, it now has 110,000 which for a diesel pusher is quite young. cons 1 Trade in value is between 0 to 5,000 - kelly bb 2 Replacement costs are significant, probably > $50,000 3 replacement would require taking out a bank loan at > 8% interest 4 values at loan payoff would be appx 50% of original value 5 I'm retired and don't have the income to afford to finance a replacementRe: water damaged floor, Need guidance...Lol... And no way to perform any repairs when necessary.Re: Replacing ceiling lights & adding more lightyup trust but verify. The nice thing about these lights is they don't require a heat sink, but the thin light housing acts as a natural heat sink. The frame measurements are approx 20 inches x 5 inches aluminium so a decent sized heatsink.Re: water damaged floor, Need guidance...seriously? What the heck was Monaco (and others) thinking? More importantly how do I get access to the floor? cut the carpet with a utility knife?Re: Replacing ceiling lights & adding more lightI'm putting together a utube video on how to convert a thinlite fixture to led. stay tunedwater damaged floor, Need guidance...Hey all, due to a water damaged floor I need to clear out the bedroom of floor to ceiling furniture and ultimately the carpeting. I'm hitting a brick wall in that I don't see how monaco has fastened the furniture to the floor, walls or the ceiling. Has anyone ever had to do this and if so how do I get the cabinets and end tables disconnected ? this is a 1990 Monaco 40ft diesel. fwiw. thanksRe: Replacing ceiling lights & adding more lightIn my case, most of the ceiling lights were thin lite dual 18" fluorescent. These are ok when new but after many years flicker and fail, and burn though new bulbs fairly quickly. I finally decided to remove the ballasts and sockets and lay down a strip of led lights. nice thing is you can not only choose the light temp but the lumen output. I went with 3500K is is a nice color, for the living room and hallways, in the dinning kitchen area I went a tad bit warmer and used 3000K. what few incandescent were also upgraded to leds (1141 series) with 2700 K 300 lumen , I got the leds from superbrightleds.com and the 1141 drop in off amazon. All told a bit spendy but much better to just have lights that don't flicker and need to be managed all the time to get them to work.Re: Water damaged subfloor, how to replace advice?ok no osb, no idea on how thick either. I guess i'll find out soon enough. Think I'll need to remove the bed platform and all the cabinets? It's hard to tell if the carpeting went in before or after the wood work was installed. where is the water coming from you ask ? when it snows then melts, the water has to go somewhere and in this case the leaky air conditioner base seals allowed the pooling water easy access. The once painted air vent covers are a dead give away now quite rusty. Before winter sets in this year i'll have tarps covering the roof a bit better.
