water damaged floor, Need guidance...

the water is from melting snow piled up around the air conditioner, the bedroom passenger side was the low point and pooled up there and softened the floor.
now that i know removing the cabinets are not gonna happen I will cut the carpeting out to expose the floor and find out what happens next.
I'm thinking of cutting 1 inch away from the cabinets so i'll have something to seam the carpet to.


this winter will see new tarps over the rig.

What is the reason to worry about above the floor to have to remove furniture? Are the walls soaked too?

In a friend's TT I repaired, the soaked, sagging floor (water from a broken WH tank at floor level and a broken water pipe from freezing, also at floor level), I just cut it all away in the open areas, put new 2x4 wood beams underneath into the L frames below (too few metal beams) and new flooring. It was a big job for a DIY, but as mentioned above, you can do it in sections.

The whole kitchen counters etc stayed in place and I got at underneath them as required (not much--the damage was mostly in the open areas).

Without knowing the details in your case, I would first just cut out some floor and see what it is really all about. Then get "creative".

companies that sell zinc plated hardware and call it rust resistant is a joke.

Well I am replacing flooring in my toy hauler and beginning to work under the bed and one cabinet. We have replaced flooring in the back in many places already around the edges. So far we have to replace the floor in pieces. We will put one small section in today that goes under a partial wall going into the bedroom. We add a support board on the outside and slide it in from the bedroom. We also spray undercoating on all the corrugated plastic under the floor and up on the side boards to help keep the water out of them. I always find many pin holes in the plastic. We have to cut screws off under the cabinets and walls then remove the trim and use long brad nails to hold it back in place. Also the large 2X3s that hold up the flooring, we remove the old bolts to the frame and install new ones. I find most of them rusted and break off so they are not much in the line of support.

3 I'm a diy'er any repairs are done by myself, cheap labor
4 i'm the second owner and purchased it 20 years ago with 75,000 miles, it now has 110,000 which for a diesel pusher is quite young.

1 Trade in value is between 0 to 5,000 - kelly bb
2 Replacement costs are significant, probably > $50,000
3 replacement would require taking out a bank loan at > 8% interest
4 values at loan payoff would be appx 50% of original value
5 I'm retired and don't have the income to afford to finance a replacement

For many if not most RVs, the cabinets are built in to enhance the structural integrity of the RV. They are not designed to be removed. They are often screwed in from the outside of the RV.

Is it that immaculate that it justifies a floor rebuild or simply a time peice that you don't want to let go of.

Weigh the pros and cons.
