By the way, Timken makes bearings and **** good bearings. They are not in the petroleum/lubricant business. Putting their name i=on a petroleum product sounds like marketing. I suspect their grease is no different from most any other.Good Sam RA Leap!Roadside assistance is close to the expiration date. Got an email stating they attempted to charge my credit card for renewal but it did not go through. Geez, I wonder why? Anyhow Good Sam would like me to pay $139 or $149. Last year I paid $69. Granted there were promotions going on which I took advantage of. I emailed back that I had no intention of paying double what I did last year and please make another offer. Have not heard back from them and doubt I will. The old gray mare is just not what she used to be.Re: 5er hitch options RAM MegaCab w/6'4" bed - Solitude 310GKCan suggest what not to buy and that is a gooseneck with your 6'4" bed. I have had 3 5th wheels. The first 2 were pulled by a long (standard) bed truck. Both had gooseneck hitches with a retractable ball in the bed. Loved them. Open bed when detatched, easy to hook/unhook. I could turn the trailer perpendicular to the truck without a problem. No worry about hitting the rails. This truck is a short bed with a retractable gooseneck ball. I now have a dimple in each rear corner of the cab. I am lucky I did not shatter the rear window. You just do not have the turning angle with the short bed/gooseneck arrangement. . Danger!Re: do you do thisI will guess you are concerned about flat spots on your tires. My understanding is that it is not an issue with radial tires but was for bias ply.Re: Replacing drum brakes ???I replaced the brake assemblies and bearings last winter on my 2004 Keystone Cougar. If you have any mechanical ability it is fairly easy. Dexter 10' electric brake assemblies (4): $175 Wheel bearings for 4 wheels: $54 This time I used a company named Sturdy Built Trailer (online). I believe they were cheaper than etrailer for the same brand assemblies. They don't make em like they used to.Returning to RVing after maybe 13 years. On this and other forums read much about Rvs being made with less quality (cheaply) than in the past. So here is my limited anecdotal evidence in support of that contention. I have a 2004 Keystone Cougar 5th wheel. So after 15 years of service the the dead bolt on the door lock quit. Purchased a new one. Indistinguishable from the original. Heavy, all metal construction. When bolting the inner and outer halves together the 4 screws were about 1/4" short of mating the two halves. I had the 4 bolts from the original lock so I used them. Called the vendor to let him know. He replied, "no those are the standard length bolts that fit the thickness of today's doors". So, I concluded that today's doors are thinner hence less cost to manufacture. Unfortunately, unit sale price has not followed door cost. So, what say you Dr. Watson?Re: AUXILiARY FUEL TANK bshgto1 wrote: TimnJo wrote: We are planning (another) trip to western Canada this summer, taking Hwy 11. Having the peace of mind, knowing I don't HAVE to stop for fuel, is well worth the cost of the tank and it's installation. There are many stretches with no services of any kind. Last time (2012) we went through I was stopping almost every hour, on average, - every time I saw a fueling station I thought I could get in, and out, of. The stress of that is enormous, not to mention I was paying 20% to 30% more for fuel at those tiny stops. Boy I hope the pissing match is over for now but TimnJO is right. I never like the truck stops and the guys glaring at my wife when she went in side and filthy pumps and the fact that you had to leave your card at the desk or try and estimate how much your going to use. The Rest Stops are far more accommodating for both parties and much cleaner. The use of a can is ridiculous, in 30 miles you are paranoid if your going to find a pump in the range you have left AGAIN. The hole idea of the aux. tank is to give you le-way in your travels. I paid for the tank and parts in savings from the truck stops by using the Gas Buddy App and timing when near empty at a far cheaper gas station which always worked out to be at the night stops. Best to date was a 37.00 dollar savings on a 80 gallon fill up. Yeh I know some don`t care but more of us do. Besides you can sell it on Craigslist in a matter of hours when you done with it. So what cost? Just to easy. I would imagine you would like it a lot less if "the guys" were glaring at you! Anyhow, maybe your wife is not wearing appropriate "truck stop" attire? Sorry fellow sojourner, could not resist your bait. Do agree with you though, the extra fuel adds a measure of independence which is always good. Always like it when I can say "no thank you" and move on down the road.Sensor CleanerAnyone use Caravan Overnight Sensor Cleaner or a similar product?
