I do have a group of great skilled workers, carpenters, electricians, roofers, etc. who did renos and repairs on my home. I guess I thought we needed some special RV people. And, no, I would not sell it in its current condition without complete disclosure and having it repaired correctly. I could never do that to someone. Thanks again, IrisRubber roof. Interior.Hi Everyone! I haven't been here in a few years so I am a bit lost all over again. But, I need a little help, well, a lot of help. We have a 42' diesel motorhome which we have not used since DH's open heart surgery 3 years ago. Frankly, it is sitting and looking sadder by the day, in a storage lot near home. I think we need to sell it and get something much smaller and easier to handle. BUT, we need a new roof, we have leaks and we have TERMITES! I do not know here to begin. We have nothing here as far as repair people. The RV dealerships here are horrid. We have dealt with them before and the experiences were so unpleasant, I would rather not even try. As it is I am scared to even start fixing things because we do not know what we are doing. I am afraid to see what might be under the roof and am convinced that no one will ever be able to put it back together again. Where do I go? Thanks, IrisRe: Drinking glass holders?I just use the cardboard ones that they give you in the drive thru' at fast food spots, like McD's. They work great.Re: Perspective RV'er needing opinionsTake a day to go look it over and test drive it. If you are mechanically inclined, great; if not, take a friend who is with you. Test every system to make sure it works properly, inspect for damage/leaks/rust, etc. Know ahead of time that you may need to put out an additional $3K for tires, depending on the age of the ones on the MH. Also know ahead of time, that like a 12 year old car, you will have issues along the way just because of the age of the unit and things like the water pump, fuel pump, fuel lines, etc., disintergrate with time. What may be fine today will fall apart tomorrow. It is the nature of the beast. I recommend that you visit the website at PPL Motorhome in Houston, TX. It is a consignment dealer with a large selection of pre-owned units which you can 'see'. It will help you to get a good idea of what you can get on your budget and you may find that the Damon is the perfect match for you or that it isn't the best bang for your buck. IrisRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmoswolfcat1 - nothing. You can take your shoes off outside and have a foot rinse basin to step in, then a towel to dry off before going inside, but the dogs won't do it. So. . . IrisRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosThe newest and handiest 'gadget' I have bought is the Bissel 3 in 1 vacuum. It is really just a dust-buster with a detachable long handle and brush bar but it is a plug in, so it doesn't run out of juice. $19.99 at WM. I use it constantly. Iris PS: I love chit-chat.Re: You MIGHT be an RV'r if . . .You are content in the heat, swatting flies in your luxury MH while it sits in a repair shop parking lot over the weekend because 'at least you're away'.Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosJetboater, that is the one, I guess it went up in price, like everything else. ThX for the post. I didn't attach the towel bar or the knife holder. IrisRe: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosGot a problem with clothes/hangers falling from closet pole while moving? Measure circumference of the pole, add 1/2", cut length of cushy foam liner to length and (added) circumference, wrap it lengthwise around the pole and secure with a strip of duck tape. The hangers and clothes will not be in a heap on the floor when you arrive at your destination. About every 2 years, replace the duck tape as it will loosen with heat and time. VOILA'!. Have a L/R slide but still not enough kitchen counter space in your RV? I bought a wooden, folding, rolling serving cart at Target online and solved this problem. The cart is 34" high on the rollers, 17.5 inches deep and 33.5 inches wide with a solid wood top and 2 slatted shelves under. It folds to 4" deep and fits under the bed while traveling. I can use it as an island between the kitchen counter and the dinette (which is in the L/R slide) or against the wall that is exposed when the L/R slide is extended. I can stack pots and pans, sodas, cutting boards, colanders, whatever on the shelves and use the top for prep work/catchall/whatever. The best $125 I ever spent on MH things. Requires some assembly - easy though. Cold mattress/bed? Get some plush faux fur fabric and put it under the fitted sheet. Toasty warm all night and can be cut for just one side if your partner does not need it. When I figure out how to re-do the bedroom closet/drawers/dirty laundry issues, I will let you know. So far, my ideas haven't worked, but I am still thinking. Why does dirty laundry take up so much more room than clean? LOL Yeah, I know - but I am not folding dirty laundry.Re: You MIGHT be an RV'r if . . .If. . . you have fallen out of your "house" due to the steep incline you didn't notice last night when pulling in you buy a Kindle because it is a "space saver" you buy a state sticker map and question whether "driving through" qualifies for a sticker or if it is considered cheating you ask Amy Vanderbilt to address "dump station etiquette" Iris
