So the amount of shrinkage should be accurate. Some time this week I plan to call the dealer who installed it, and the manufacturer. I will post what I find out.Shrinking AwningWe went camping this week and had some rain. We have a double door camper with a 19' striped awning that did cover both doors when new. It has shrunk about 4-5" on each side over the past 5 years. Is this normal? Both doors now get wet when it rains. This is a Colorado/Carefree awning, forget what material. probably vinyl.Built in propane tanksWe were looking at an older (1996) class C. It has a built in propane tank. Are they dated like the portable tanks, and require testing at regular intervals?Bad odor in hot water tank: FIx or Replace?Last camping trip we had a bad smell in our hot water only; the regular water coming through the cold water taps were o.k.. Drained the hot water tank today, and got the bad smell, plus some fine, black sludge. This is an Atwood HWH made in 1998, installed in 2000. It is a 10 gallon with electric and gas heating. This heater does not include an anode. The heater controls still work. Can I, or should I, try to replace the tank and electric heater element myself? The first quote for a complete heater came in at $799. Not sure what parts alone would cost. Has anyone tried to repair their water heater? Notes: The electric heater still works. The black "sludge" dried grey, so I think it is tank residue. Based on answers so far, I will clean the tank multiple times before I try any repairs. I am still interested if anyone has replaced the tank only instead of the entire heater.Fresh water tank dumps itself through overflow pipe, why?Upon reaching the campground, we filled up the fresh water tank until water came out of the overflow pipe. Moving to the campsite, water continued to come out (we figured too full over uneven ground, the water will run out). At the campsite, we started to set up and when almost finished and pulling out the awning, I heard an unusual air sound from underneath the camper, overflow pipe most likely. Water had continued to run out of the overflow pipe while we were setting up and the fresh water tank was now down to under 25% full. On prior trips, we had filled the fresh water tank until water came out of the overflow pipe without any problems. What caused the fresh water tank to drain itself through the overflow pipe? We didn't want to undo our work and move the camper back to a fill location, so we used our backup water filler. This is a 5 gallon bucket with a lid, a pond pump, and a special hose to connect to our water supply. After about 5 trips, we had the water tank filled to 100%. It did not give us any problems for the week, and the water system worked as it should.Oily residue on top left side of radiator cover--what is it?This is a 2004 chevy diesel truck. Several months ago, I had the truck into the dealer for another issue, and saw this "residue" and asked them to check it out. They said that they did not know what it was, and could not find a problem. They wiped it off. I was filling the wiper reservoir yesterday, and found more of this oily residue. It looks like oil mixed with water. Nothing is leaking to the ground. Any ideas as to what it is, or the cause?
