Used it for 7 days straight in Texas 2 yrs ago.Ran it almost 24 hrs only shut it down to refuel, and change oil. change it every 50 hrs. Runs our Coleman 9000 in truck camper, and refrigerator. Have been very happy, bought on amazon for under $400.00Re: Northstar 850 sc Electric roof liftThank you all for the responses, I found a phone number for Rieco Titan that I will call for more info. I may be getting into too big of a hurry, best to wait until the shoulder replacement heals, Might be able to raise it. The first two or three cranks are the hardest, having a 95 pound A/C on roof doesn't help either. The Rieco Titan Webb site seams to be marketing to "Pop Up Truck Camper" Thanks again.Northstar 850 sc Electric roof liftLooking for someone that has the 850SC with the electric roof lift. I have injured both shoulders, and most likely will no longer be able to manually lift the roof. Called North Star was advised there was no way to retro fit the lift in my camper. From studying Videos on you tube of the lift system. I really think it could be done. The videos do not show enough details. Would like someone that has this system to send some photos of the systems attachment points. Cannot find any newer NS campers in my area that I could view this system.truck camping and firearmsWe have been active trk camping for the past 3 years. I have always carried two firearms. We are working towards going full time this fall. Would like to go to the baha area in mexico this winter. Would like to hear from anyone as to ideas in storing the weapons while in mexico. I will NOT take them into mexico, unless there is a legal way to do it I hear of folks going down there to hunt and taking the guns with them I guess. Last fall we were denied access to Ft Campbell, because we had firearms, and no place to put them off post. Short of taking camper off truck and leaving it somewhere. I am a vietnam combat vet, and 15 years in law enforcement, Just not comfortable not having a weapon for self defense.Re: Questions about digital thermostatThank you, that old thread helps.Questions about digital thermostatI have a 2008 NS pop up truck camper with the a non digital thermostat for heating. I think I want to upgrade to digital, how ever I have concerns if the digital has any adjustment for some temperature swing. With the vinyl sides it does not hold temperature real well. my old style will allow the temperature to fluctuate 4 or 5 degrees or more between cycles. I am wondering if a digital will want to maintain the temperature at a constant setting, and make the furnace cycle like every minute or so? Any Pop ups with experience on this.Re: where to put inverter on Northstar Pop upThanks for all the info, I have a 1000 W PSW inverter. my compartment is the same as sidecarFlip. I have 2 Gp 31 105 Amp flooded batteries in plastic boxes, North Star did put a 2" vent tube into the compartment, with a single Gp 27 box for the vent to attach. I'm thinking of making a sub compartment (plywood box) for the batteries, and venting that. This is about the only option to keep the battery cables short.where to put inverter on Northstar Pop upI have a North Star 850 SC popup TC Thought I could install an inverter it in the compartment where the Batteries are. Instructions seem to advise against doing that. Any NS 850s out there that have installed an inverter?Re: popup won't fully openjust saw your post today. i have a 2008 850sc bought uesd Last saturday we left a camp ground and drove 150 miles to another. went to raise the top and the passenger side did not go up.Thought I had forgot to open the hasps or lock downs on that side checked and they were unlatched After about 20 minutes of messing around trying to figure out what was wrong, noticed the pin in the passenger side"lift gear" was missing. did find it laying below the crank area. put it back in and is now working ok. Did you find any reason why yours is not operating? You might call the northstar folks. I ask them a question on putting in a a/c as to where to cut the top. They responded within a couple of days. would like to follow this post. Don't find much info on the northstars, maybe that is a good thing.Re: Coleman AC?installed a 9200 coleman yesterday on my 08 Northstar. Thought it was prewired, after cutting the 14X14 hole in the roof discovered an empty 1/2 inch plastic tube running towards the drivers side in the approximatley 1 inch thick styroform ceiling. Took me about 2 hrs to get the 12 gauge electrical wire snaked down to the converter. The install went very well after the wiring was completed. Ordered a westinghouse WH2400 generator from Amazon this morning. Reviews of it indicated it should run the coleman. I wonder about the life span of that generator, time will tell.
