The point was they care way more about making money than than they do about the problems, issues, and just plain **** workmanship that came with the POS RV they suckered you into buying, and then they forgot about you in microseconds after you signed the sales agreement. Well, sometimes you need to iterate your points rather than assuming, you know what they say about assume, everyone thinks as you do. Some of us don't demonize regulated capitalism. And therein lies the problem. There isn't very much regulation in the RV industry. So, they can pump out whatever **** they see fit and the only recourse we have is to not buy from them again. Second problem-- they are pretty much all the same. So it really doesn't seem to matter much which brand of junk you buy. I own a Vanleigh Tiffin product that was produced in 2016. At that time the company was relatively new and did their very best to be responsive and solve problems. Also they didn't have as many problems as they do now. They were trying to establish a good reputation, which they did. Since Thor bought out Tiffen, getting in touch with Vanleigh has become considerably more difficult and time consuming. At this point they are no better or worse than most all the other brands out there. If you want a Vanleigh product, BUY USED, in the 2016 to 2018 time frame.Re: Any nice new 5th wheels that have cloth furniture TxGearhead wrote: The leather they are installing is not really leather. It's bonded leather, little pieces of leather glued together. Guaranteed to fall apart in 5 years. When ours falls apart I'm getting cloth furniture. You would be lucky to get 5 years out of boded leather. It pure junk. I've seen it start to slough off and come apart in as little as two years.Re: keeping plugged inDon't know about a 2014 unit, but newer units have the smoke/carbon monoxide detectors wire past the battery shut off. So the are on regardless of shut off. It is a small parasite that will drain your battery unless you physically disconnect the battery or keep charging it.Re: Curt vs B&W tinner12002 wrote: Showme 5vr wrote: No experience with Curt but I do have a B&W, would not trade it! X2 X3 I'm very happy with my B&W hitch, and have been for the past 11 years. I like the fact that they are totally American made. Needed new U bolts (my fault) they sent me new ones no charge. Actually talked to a real human English speaking person on the phone. Customer service A+++.Re: Vanleigh Vilano FW. Lwiddis wrote: Seems very nice if all you want to do is camp in private RV parks. Had a punch list 18 items long. That was just to start. Had stupid plumbing leaks due to no glue on the joints. Sloppy workmanship. The company is good about standing behind their products. Sent a mobile repair over 200 miles round trip at no cost to me. 1year latter still stuggeling with new fangeled no probe tank readout still not workingRe: do all dealers lie larry barnhart wrote: We were at the rv sales before it was lazy days in Tucson and each fifth had a ford truck to match what was needed to tow that weight of fifth sitting beside it. I thought tht was a great idea plus the salesman had a card showing this information. chevman Just goes to show that each dealership location can be different. We were at the Lazy Days dealership near Tampa. Sitting out front was a 5th wheel ( exactly like one that I own) hitched to a Ford F250. No way would that F250 have the payload capacity to handle the 5vr that was hitched to it. Anyway they were giving the impression that a 250 class truck could handle it and it is not true. So, even within the same company, but different locations one can come up with different erroneous stories.Re: Grey valve open"Head to town with the dishwasher and washer running? " Hell I won't head into town with the fresh water turned on at the post outside. I DON'T LIKE SURPRISES! I read too many times, people come back to a water mess because a fitting started to leak or something else bursts. That's not to say that he mess can't start while you are in your RV, but at least you might be able to keep it from being catastrophic.Re: Air conditioner compressor runs with no fan tvman44 wrote: Are you sure it is the compressor that is still running and not the fan. :) Yes I am sure that it is the compressor. It is not a Dometic.Air conditioner compressor runs with no fanWith the thermostat set for air condition auto. The temperature in the coach achieves the temperature on the thermostat, the air conditioner compressor then continues to run but the fan shuts down. Anybody know what is going on here. Thanks in advance.Re: difficult gate valveI have had the same problem with the black tank. I have found that putting about 1/2 a bottle of cooking oil in an empty black tank followed by about 5 full flushes of the toilet (approx 5 gallons). Then work the valve handle in and out as the oily water passes. This solves the problem for us for about 3 weeks (we fultime 4 months of the year) . Then repeat. It seems that the rubber in the gate valve hardens and isn't as slippery as it should be and the oil fixes it for a while
