Will it route you on the Southern State or the Northern State or any of the parkways? I tried the Rand McNally and it routed me on those roads with a 10' height clearance put into the settings. The Rand went back and now I am waiting on hearing what the Garmin RV will do. Thanks! I am 12'6" and even though I live 1/4 mile off Southern State,it routes me to Sunrise or LIE... For those of us unfamiliar with your area, what does this mean? Is the GPS routing you properly? Yes....Re: Garmin RV 760LMT any Usage Findings 1775 wrote: shoreco wrote: Got mine 2 weeks ago.....so far so good.....luv it Shoreco - I am also on LI. I for one love to play my acoustic guitar and sing at a volume of a normal conversation.... On many occasions I have even received a compliment from a neighboring camp site the following morning.... If my neighbors are loud and carry on, it doesn't bother me either...(I tune them out).... If I wanted absolute silence I would camp in a secluded area, or wear ear plugs....Re: which way is best 2 6V or 2 12V batteries TCINTN wrote: Have a new to me an 811 Northern Lite. Need to upgrade battery. Which way is best for most lasting power? Have room for either situation. 2 6V or 2 12V looking at group 30 110 AH Thanks Ed Forget the technical mumbo jumbo.... I had 2 12volts.....furnace would run them down before morning.... I now have 2 6volts......problem solved.... Nuff said Happy TravelsRe: Down shifting the transmission for braking assist paulsm87 wrote: I have a question about the proper use of down shifting my transmission in my motor home I have a 2001 Jayco With the V-10 The question is; when driving and towing my Escape I will down shift my transmission when stopping or slowing down for a stop or going down a long grade; I use my transmission as an engine brake to save my brakes and to avoid over heating them. I was told yesterday that it is bad and could damage the transmission, a lot of us have been doing this for years so I thought I would ask RV NET for there opinion Thank you Paul In my workhorse manual it encourages the use of down shifting...Re: on board generators eaugustin wrote: I am new to RVing, purchased a 2013 Thor Class C. After my RV had set for approx. a month this past winter, I was preparing for a trip and when I tried to start the motor both batteries were dead and I had to have a battery service out to jump both batteries. I drove the RV to my service center to test the batteries, and was told that the generator must be started and run for 2 hours every 2 weeks. Can someone verify this? I have a battery disconnect....but after finding my batteries drawn down each time I returned I decided to remove the neg wire off the house batteries......viola....problem solved You do not need to run you generator as said.....but when you do use the MH make it a point to run it under load for awhile....generators need to be exercised....Re: Converter fbanko wrote: My converter is cycling about every minute. When the fan kicks on the lights get brighter and when it stops lights dim. Checked all connections all good. When converter kicks on I noticed that I am only getting 12.5v or so but nothing over 13v at any tiime charging at the the batters. Is this an indication the converter is going bad? I had a similar situation. I had a tripped over-load on my circuit board. Once I re-set it, all was fine.... On my circuit board, there are two over-load breakers. They normally have green lights indicating all is good......one of them was red....very easy to find and fix....Re: Do Class A drivers need instructions before driving popeye766 wrote: I have witnessed many scary things while traveling and talked to so many A drivers that didn't have a clue of any mechanical systems.....or anything about anything except how to unlock the door. I believe this is a threat to all on the road and not suggesting a permit just education.......maybe like a hunter safety course.... After all an A is sometime as big as an 18 wheeler and with nowhere near the safety systems..... What do you think? Just because you own a class a MH, shouldn't require you to meet commercial standards.... Class A's range from 30' to 45'.... In NY, a class a license allows you to drive any personal vehicle up to 26,000 lbs For MH's 26,001 lbs and over you need an "R" endorsement... I can't speak of other states, but I'm sure most normal licenses have a weight restriction... Now as far as being familiar with the vehicle you are driving....that is a no brainer...Re: dinghy towing odometer Fifty4F100 wrote: My 05 PT Cruiser records towed miles.
