We have 2010 F-150 SuperCrew F-150 5.4 4x4 6.5 bed and are interested in buying the SS 1251. At age 71 we want to avoid buying a 3/4 pickup. We are hoping for some feedback only from members who have experience with this specific camper on their 1/2 ton truck.Re: A Very Disappointed Good Sam Member Ralph Cramden wrote: Edd505 wrote: ReneeG wrote: This is always the standard response. I know that I'm not the only one who would like to know how this will be addressed. If good customer service is going to occur, wouldn't you want us all to know about it? Standard PM me and we will look into it, over & over & over & over. Resolution? Never ever ...... posted. Maybe it's fixed if the complainant signs a non disclosure agreement. That may be SOP in the RV industry? At one of the large manufacturers specific forums there are many examples of people posting nightmare issues who eventually receive a response requesting their info via PM. Those come from either a factory rep, moderator, or usually the administrator of their owners group. Then the thread goes silent never to be updated again by the original poster. ***UPDATE*** I thought I would update my post. I did receive a phone call from a supervisor at ESP customer service with an apology shorty after my post and I was informed that I would receive a refund for $35.73 in within 7 to 10 business and no $50 penalty. He explained that policies are have been in force as long a mine are not subject to the $50 penalty, only cases where someone buys coverage for a short period of time and then cancels. On 11/18/176 I received a cancellation notice indicating a refund due of $35.73. I haven't seen a refund on my credit card as of this post. What angered me the most was the fact that the first rep I spoke with informed me that I would be penalized $40 whether I cancelled or simply let the plan expire. And no, I did not misunderstand because I asked the rep to repeat his statement. The initial rep apparently was inexperienced. and did not know his product well. My original intent was to not to cancel my policy but rather for my buyer to continue the plan in his name and take the credit along with the discounted one year Good Sam Club membership. He apparently was not interested and I did not want to continue receiving billing statements from Affinity so I called to inform ESP of my intentions. As a Good Sam Club Life member I will continue my promise to help fellow travelers on America's highways, but I will be extra careful when I shop for the service plans that the Good Sam Club offers. Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas, MPA Very Disappointed Good Sam MemberI have been a loyal Good Sam Club Life member for many years and have to subscribed to various products advertised by Good Sam and Underwritten by Affinity Brokerage, LLC. We recently sold our travel trailer and took time to print out the transfer application form and presented it to the new owner along with the title. I called today to cancel my coverage due to expire on 12/17/17. I was informed by the customer service rep that Affinity Brokerage, LLC would be charging my credit card a "cancellation fee" of $50. He informed me that I was my responsibility to send in the transfer form before I sold the trailer sold that Affinity Brokerage, LLC could "reach out" to the new buyer. When I protested the charge the rep pointed out to me that this cancellation fee is addressed in Part One of the policy. Shame on Affinity Brokerage, LLC for charging a the cancellation "ransom fee" and shame on me for not reading over the documentation more carefully. I urge my fellow members to review documents carefully before buying any products from the Good Sam Club. Now that our travel trailer has been sold we are using part of the funds to purchase a new Class C motorhome. You can be certain that I will not buy that motor home from Camping World nor will I purchase the Extended Service Plan from the Good Sam Club. As a Life Good Sam Member I will continue RV travel based on the traditions of the Good Sam Club, but I will not renew subscriptions to my other services from Affinity Brokerage, LLC.Re: American Southwest trip thoughts 2gypsies wrote: Since you're going thru Albuquerque, Los Alamos is mentioned above. However, in the same area is Bandelier Nat'l Monument with some nice Indian ruins. If you're going to Grand Canyon South Rim you could exit via Hwy 64 east to Hwy 89. Then the Flagstaff area also has some good ones to explore: Take Hwy 89 south and before reaching Flagstaff you'll come to Sunset Crater Nat'l Monument. Right at the park entrance is a lovely forest service campground, Bonito. Then drive through Sunset Crater and you'll come to Wupatki Nat'l Monument with excellent ruins. This road is a loop so continue on and it'll bring you back out to Hwy 89. Flagstaff also has Walnut Canyon Nat'l Monument - more ruins. Then if you're heading to tour Sedona, I'd suggest staying in nearby Cottonwood and Dead Horse Ranch State Park - very nice. A couple miles away is Tuzigoot Nat'l Monument and also Montezuma Castle Nat'l Monument is nearby. Also near is the funky little town of Jerome but don't take your RV up there. You can see the lights of Jerome from Dead Horse Ranch State Park - pretty. There is clean, safe and inexpensive RV parking with hookups at the Los Alamos County Visitors Center in White Rock,NM. It is about 9 miles from Bandelier and 8 from Los Alamos.DuraCozy Truck CamperI was surfing the net for very lightweight popup truck campers and I ran across a DuraCozy "expandable" truck camper. I would like to hear from any members that have experience with this lightweight. Thank you, MikeRe: Which tow vehicle tires?I have a 2010 F-150 Super Crew long bed ( 21,000 miles ) that I bought new from my local dealer. This pickup came equipped with a set of Michelin LTX A/T2 P265/70R17 tires that developed small fine cracks on the sidewalls. I don't use petroleum based tire treatments, but wash the tires occasionally with mild soap and water and keep them covered with the same type of white tire covers I use for my travel trailer. I recently took my truck to Ford Quick Lane and I asked the manager to inspect my tires for safety. He explained that the cracks are "normal for Michelins". I seriously doubt that his statement was true and I am planning on replacing them. I am not sure if Michelin will make them good, but I haven't tried yet. I tow a FunFinder 189FBS travel trailer that weighs 4,000 lbs fully loaded and I am not too comfortable towing with P tires. I am looking for a US made all season LT tire that is smooth riding but appropriate for towing a trailer like mine. Any ideas? Thank you, MikeRe: Bad Power Supply Converter/Charger?Thank you all for your guidance. Regards, MikeBad Power Supply Converter/Charger?I have a Parallax Power Supply brand name converter/charger in my 2008 Cruiser RV Fun Finder travel trailer. I recently installed a brand new fully charged RV battery per my repairman's recommendation. After a day connected to electric power supply at an RV park, I noticed that my interior lights were getting dim. I checked my battery level with a voltmeter and it read 9 volts. I connected my battery charger to the battery and the interior lights are bright and the battery reads 12.69 volts as long as the battery charger is connected. Is my converter/charger power supply failing to charge my rv battery? My AC appliances, radio, TV, etc are working fine. I was under the impression that as long as I was connected to ac power that the converter would convert ac power to dc power and run my dc devices even without a battery in the trailer. I had this problem last fall and took it to my RV dealer. The repairman informed me that all I needed was a new battery because the old one was not holding a charge. Sounds like I might need to replace my converter charging unit as well as my repair shop. Guidance requested and appreciated. MikeRe: Andersen Hitch for LightweightsGreat information. Thank you all very much, Mike & Kathy
