I replaced the old "Videoman" b/w CRT monitor and camera with the Costco unit #507735. The old monitor was installed in the dash and the unsupported weight of the back end was causing the plastic panel to crack. I abandoned the old cable as it was over 15 years old, plus the plugs from the two systems did not match. I ran the new cable down from the dash, underneath the coach, and then back up to the cam between the end cap and the back bedroom wall. That was the most difficult part of the installation. The new unit uses a multiplexer and the power, monitor, and cam wires plug into it. I needed to resize the 6" x 6" hole in the dash as the new monitor was as wide but not as tall as the old one. So far, so good. I get a clear color picture and a better field of vision. Re: Motorhome Rearview CameraI just replaced the old "Videoman" b/w CRT monitor and camera with the Costco unit #507735. If anyone need the old stuff for parts I'd be glad to send it out for shipping costs paid. Re: What I learned about new big DPs at the Tampa RV show.We have been disappointed as we shop around at what we consider the glitz and glam of the new RVs. You'd think by now the industry would wake up to the needs of RV buyers that want a light, bright interior, well thought out, with room in the passageways for people to easily move about. Forget those dark interiors with little natural light. Some of these coaches, especially in the back bedrooms, are like caves. Slide arrangements that allow for access to some of the closets and storage while the slides are pulled in are better. Modest furnishings and appointments with weight savings as a consideration (ever lift a box of ceramic tile at the home improvement store?) are pluses. Add in an adequately sized galley countertops, easy access for service and repair of mechanical systems, a chassis that will handle decently without spending a fortune on aftermarket suspension components, a realistic cargo carrying capacity, and competent craftsmanship during the manufacturing process. Just MHO.Re: Magic Chef Residential RefrigeratorsI installed a 10CF Magic Chef refrigerator with minimal difficulty and have been very pleased with its performance and efficiency. I recently added a Kisae 1000W PSW unit, an automatic transfer switch, and a remote switch to control the inverter. The inverter feeds to a dedicated circuit, and the transfer switch controls which energy source runs the refrigerator. The inverter is turned on just prior to disconnecting shore power (the default), and as soon as I pull the plug the switch immediately transfers the energy source to the inverter. It's great going down the highway on a warm summer day with the refrigerator keeping a constant 37F temperature. I'd like to somehow control the frequency of the defrost cycle as it hardly ever gets a frost buildup. Any ideas?Re: must replace gasket on windshieldIt depends on what gasket you are talking about. On our 2001 GB the outer rubber gasket seal was attached to the windshield glass with two sided tape. There was no adhesive on the fiberglass side. This outer gasket strip had come loose in a few places. I peeled the gasket off (it's about thirty feet long), cleaned it up, and reinstalled it using a generous amount of black Dynaflex 230 from Home Depot. The windshield did not have to be removed to do this fix. I have seen some glass replacements where a seal strip is installed around the outer rim of the windshield and then the glass is then pushed into place. My GB windshield, and maybe yours, is glued to a bed of black butyl compound like a car windshield would be. I cleaned out around the glass and added some sealant where it was applied pretty thin at the factory before reattaching the outer seal. There is a similar strip of rubber gasket down the center pillar that separates the two sides of the windshield. I ended up using a piece of it to replace a damaged section of the longer strip. It was identical in cross section. A piece of black plastic body side moulding was used to replace this center strip and bridge the gap between the glass panels. It adhered to both sides of the windshield with adhesive tape already attached. The most difficult part of the entire project was figuring out a way to reach the far upper corners of the windshield. That black caulking was also pretty messy, but water cleanup made it manageable. I did not use silicone caulk because of how difficult it is for me to work with and remove if need be after it has cured.Re: recreation.govTried Chrome this evening after the post and all works find. Thanks for the responses!recreation.govMaybe it's just me, but the recreation.gov website is a bust. When I use Safari, the bottom "banner" crawls with vertical movement of the page, so some of the information on the page is blocked by the banner. Data entry that needs to be included to make a reservation is hidden behind this annoying banner. Switching to Firefox does no good, as once a campground is chosen the site reverts back to the introductory splash screen. It is impossible for me to make a reservation on this site. Has anyone else experienced this difficulty? I'm left with the option to call, but being on hold for an extended time has its own frustration.Re: F53 front spring bushingsWildmanbaker: Now that's info I can use. I will check with the local Ford dealer as soon as we get back. I appreciate it!Re: F53 front spring bushingsYep, the bushings that are within the "curl" or the eye of the spring ends. Thanks for all the info so far.F53 front spring bushingsWas crawling around under the RV yesterday (what else better to do?) and noticed that the front spring bushings liked dry, cracked, and worn out. Has anyone replaced those bushings, maybe on a DIY basis, and if so where did you get the replacements? I'd be looking for polyurethane bushings instead of rubber. Thanks!
