We need to have our front one-piece windshield replaces and the paint redone on the front and all along the top edge of the roof. We know this will need to go into a shop for the paint but we live in Virginia outside of Washington, DC and RV services are very rare in that area. I am looking for some recommendations of Class A Body Shops that are not only within an hour or so of my home in Fairfax, VA but are also recommended by readers of this forum.Re: Defrosting the Norcold freezer/fridgeI regularly defrost my fridge/freezer. First try to reduce the amount of food to the minimum before you do the defrost. Next, get your big cooler and go to the grocery store to buy some dry ice. I have found this at Publix and Safeway stores on the East Coast. Cram all your frozen food into the bottom of the cooler, and put the dry ice on top of it. You can layer some newspaper on top of this to try to reduce the evaporation of the dry ice. Leave the dry ice in the plastic bags it comes in. Do not touch the dry ice with your bare hands. This should keep the food frozen over night. You can set some of your fridge food on top of that layer but don't put anything that could be ruined by freezing like lettuce. You probably will need a second cooler with ice in it for most of your fridge stuff, or if the fridge is a separate space, you could just put the ice in the fridge section to keep it cold; it will act like a cooler even with the power off. Turn off the fridge and open the doors of the freezer. If you want to speed up the defrost process, you can use a blow dryer to melt down some of the ice but be aware that the interior is plastic and the blow dryer can warp it if your hold it in one place too long. I usually just let it melt overnight. I also place some absorbent towels in the bottom of the freeze (like ShamWows!) to soak up the water. Once everything is melted, I dry the surfaces off thoroughly. You will need to cool the freezer down again before you place the food back in there. You might need to go get more dry ice because it evaporates into Carbon Dioxide Gas overnight. Have fun!Re: washer and dryer in RVI have a Splende Combo Washer/Dryer in my coach and I use it all the time. However, it takes some adaptation. If I had a choice and especially if I was going to be spending a lot of time in the coach, I would go the the stacked washer/dryer. I have also had the stacked unit in several homes and it is pretty much like using a regular washer/dryer except the loads are a little bit smaller. With the combo, the loads have to be very small--like the top sheet and 2 pillow cases or 3 bath towels. Then, when the sheets come out of the dryer, they are very wrinkled. Any clothes that are dried in the dryer will be very wrinkled because they go from being tangled up in the wash cycle right into the dry cycle. Less is better with the combo. Because I want to reduce shrinkage, I typically air dry most of my clothes on hangers on a rod in the shower stall and I have a small electric fan that I set on the floor of the shower stall, tilted up. With the glass shower door closed, this creates a wind tunnel that dries the clothes quickly and since they are constantly moving...no wrinkles. Either way, having a washer/dryer in your coach is wonderful. Keeps you out of the laundry mat!Re: Contemplating trip to Florida KeysNot sure when you are thinking of going but if you plan on being in the Keys in January, Feb or March, you better call and book a site NOW. I have not been there myself but have a lot of friends who winter there. Blue Water Key is one of their favorites.Re: Dogs working hardLove your video. That is really incredible that your dogs can work those sheep like that. The only Border Collie we know hates our dogs (2 Cocker Spaniels). Not sure why that is--maybe cause they are "fancy dogs"! Anyway, I love dogs and those dogs of yours are "good" dogs! How do you ever get away with all those animals to care for? That is why I got the motorhome...so I could take my dogs with me. Don't think that you can take all your animals with you though! That would have to be "some" motorhome.Re: First time Motorhome owner, but it has no manuals, HELP!I don't have these manuals but I Googled "Georgie Boy" and found that there are several links to owners clubs. Perhaps they can help. Also, I would contact the manufacturer to see if they have archived copies of the owners manuals. Good Luck to you and enjoy your new motorhome.
