A few calls to Cummins in El Paso did help us find a set of 6 new injectors. They are being over-nighted from Denver. We hope to be back on the road by Friday. Traver8 (Terry)...thank you for your kind offer. We are in Deming, New Mexico which is a friendly little town. It is very hot so we opted to stay away from outdoor activities in favor of air conditioning. Deming has a nice museum but it was closed till Aug. 4th, so we found the movie theater and saw Lucy. Very good! Then we visited a local winery, Saint Clair, and did some tasting and buying. They have a very nice selection of wine. For those of you traveling this way, stop in with your empty wine bottles. They will fill and re-cork them with your choice of house wines for $3 a bottle!Fuel Injectors for WinnebagoWe have a 1999 Winnebago Adventurer, diesel. It started blowing black and white smoke about 20 miles out from our planned stop in a small town in New Mexico. We limped in and found a park. It was 5:00 on Sat. so on Mon. morning we drove to the closest truck service station. They say it's a fuel injector that is stuck open. They suggest replacing them all, which makes sense. However they could not find a matching part because according to the original owner, the blocks on these coaches were cracked and Cummins recalled them and replaced them back in 2002. The previous owner upgraded to a 350 HP at that time. Cummins apparently revises their parts and so we are sitting in this RV park waiting for this service shop to find a fuel injector. The parts they have found are back-ordered. They say they are not sure if they find a comparable part, that it will fit. We are thinking that maybe the best course of action is to take the part ourselves and drive our tow vehicle to Cummins in El Paso, TX (the closest large city). It should help if they have the part in hand, don't you think? Has anyone heard of this problem before? Have you any other suggestions?
