The dealer and manufacturer assured me that it was more than adequate. It did the job it was supposed to do and didn't launch my fifth wheel. And yes, I'm going to a higher rated hitch this time, just because. And I didn't say there was no damage to the fifth wheel. As best I and the shop can tell, the only damage was fortunately cosmetic.Re: Hitch Rating. 16K, 18K, 20K, or 24KStickdog, while it is from ETrailer, they tell me it's brand spanking new. You did have me worried for a moment, though. :) I called to confirm.Re: Hitch Rating. 16K, 18K, 20K, or 24KCan anyone explain why I can get a CURT 24K hitch for $130 less than a lower rated and equivalent CURT 20K Hitch? Q16 16K=$361 Q20 20K=$558 Q24 24K=$432Re: Hitch Rating. 16K, 18K, 20K, or 24KDriving down the road at about 65mph. Guy in front of me swerves to miss something in the road. I had traffic on both sides of me so I ran over a rail road tie-sized piece of timber laying across my lane. After the rear axle, hitch and pin went up and then down, the rails were bent up, the horizontal safety pins were U-shaped and the hitch was a bit squashed. 5-er spent some time at the shop, but no significant damage was found.Damned lucky everything stayed together and no one was hurt.Hitch Rating. 16K, 18K, 20K, or 24KDestroyed my Husky 16K in an accident and need a new hitch. (Pretty much squashed it flat and bent the rails hitting a railroad tie at 65mph.) My Cedar Creek Silverback has a dry weight of about 12,500#, GVWR of 15950# and hitch weight of 1950#. Do I gain any real performance or just peace of mind by going with an 18K, 20K or 24K rated hitch? And FWIW, I'm towing with a 6.7L F350 4X4 Crew Cab long bed. ThanksNew Tires for an F-350My 2013 F-350 came with Michelin LT275/70/18s. They're about ready to replace at 45,000, which is a little disappointing. (Most of my other Michelins have given me 70,000+ of good service.) These were okay on pavement, but absolutely useless on any unpaved surface, even my lawn. While 90% of my travel is on pavement, I'd like something quiet but with at least minimal all-weather/slippery going ability. And when I'm towing it's a 40-foot, 15,000-pound fifth wheel. I don't tow much, maybe 5,000 miles per annum. Any suggestions?Re: 2013 Ford F250, 6.7 Diesel, Suggestions to improve mileage.I have to go along with the crowd. You have something out of whack. My 2013 F350 6.7 gets 17 around town, a little more on the road and 11 with a 16K trailer behind it. Good luck.Re: Towing 35' TT with Nissan Armada *pics*I just bought a 2013 F3560 Crew Cab 6.7L 4x4 and couldn't be more pleased with it. Your's will be more than enough truck for your rig and damned comfortable too. And I probably wouldn't recommend extended trips with five passengers either, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the truck. EnjoyRe: F250 6.2L vs. 6.7L TDWhat Valhalla360 said. X2Re: Cedar Creek Touring Edition (Full Body Paint)We shopped online and bought a loaded Cedar Creek Silverback at NationalRVDetroit. (Crouch didn't have just what MSW wanted.) Got just what she wanted with about a 33% discount from MSRP. It seemed to be worth the six-hour drive.
